World Mental Health Day - Thursday 10th

admin on: Class 3

7th October 2019

It is World Mental Health Day this Thursday and we are going to be raising money for Young Minds, a charity which supports young people with their mental health. It is a key focusing point on the School Governments agenda to promote the health and well-being for children in school. The Minister of Health and Well-being, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Miss Hemingway will be selling yellow ribbon badges for 20p on Wednesday and Thursday break times. We ask the children to then wear them on Thursday to show their support. All proceeds will be donated to Young Minds. Here is a link to the Young Minds website: https://youngminds.org.uk/

Look out for staff wearing yellow on #HelloYellow Thursday!

Week ending 27th Sept

admin on: Class 3

Good evening!

Just a quick note re this last week's homework. I've asked the children to learn the days of the week and then also 'fifty', 'sixty' and 'seventy'. I've also asked the children to focus on learning the 3x and 4x tables and practising using the speed tables grids I've sent home. The numbers 1-8 just need adding to the left hand side (in varying orders). I have not set any 'Mathletics' this week but as we are in competition with the rest of the school, please encourage your child to try any of the Mathletics activities if they would like to; we'd love to win the class award this week!!

Thanks so much once again for your support,

Mrs Matthews

Homework week ending 20th Sept

admin on: Class 3

Hello again!

Below are this week's spellings and once again I've asked the children to complete 2 of the 'Mathletics' activities in order to consolidate our recent learning in Maths. If your child is unable to access 'Mathletics' please do let me know as I can happily provide an alternative Maths homework book.

In order to complete a very exciting Science activity this week could you please check if you have any empty large plastic drinks bottles; we are planning to create our very own mini compost bins!! Donations of worms gratefully received!! Only joking, the drinks bottles will be just perfect!!

Our spellings are;

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

thirty

forty

fifty

Thank you so much for all your support at home,

Mrs Matthews

15th September

admin on: Class 3

Good evening all!

We had another very exciting week in Year 3 last week; the children particularly enjoyed our Science afternoon on Friday. As Scientists, they all enjoyed getting their hands dirty as they investigated the properties of different rocks. They carried out investigations to deduce how dense, permeable and durable the different rocks were. The children were so excited; 'Now we are REAL scientists!' and 'Wow, this is so exciting!' are just a couple of examples of the lovely comments they made as they worked!! So great to hear!

Here is a copy of the spellings I've asked the children to learn this week;

young

trouble

touch

double

couple

thirteen

fourteen

fifteen

Once again, I've also asked the children to complete 2 sections on 'Mathletics'; this week '10 more and 10 less' and also 'ordering numbers'. Once the children have completed these they can try any of the remaining sections.

Hope you all have a wonderful week

Thanks so much for your support

Mrs Matthews
