Homework this week (w/c 6th May)

admin on: Class 3

Good evening!

Hope you all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend; just a shame the weather wasn't quite as good as it was over the Easter weekend!!

Many apologies, there appears to be a little confusion regarding the IXL homework this week. On Friday morning when I planned the homework IXL English activity I.6 was listed as the 'adverbs' activity, however it appears IXL are continually updating their system and this activity is now listed as P.6!!

So, the IXL homework is now as follows;

Maths IXL I.8 (problem solving)

English IXL P.6 (adverbs; deciding whether or nor the adverb is telling you when, where or how?)

I do hope that makes sense! Let's hope the categories don't change again this week!!

Spellings are as follows;

permission, discussion, confession, tension, extension, expansion, action, invention

Thanks so much for all your support,

Mrs Matthews

Viking Day photographs!

admin on: Class 3

Here's a few of our Viking Day photographs we thought you might like to see! We had an amazing day; cooking, being very creative completing our helmets and making our shields too. We even ventured out into the woodland to share a Viking story! Please note our Viking 'battles' did not involve any actual battling; the children really enjoyed pretending they were involved in a tricky Viking 'invasion'/'battle' and had fun creating interesting 'freeze frames'!!! As we know, many Vikings enjoyed a much quieter life!

We had an amazing 8 weeks sharing our classroom with Miss Henson and miss her a great deal! Hopefully she'll come back to visit us later in the year!

Friday 5th April

admin on: Class 3

Wow! What an exciting week the children have had this week! You may have noticed the children arrived home a little less clean than expected twice this week (as did the staff); they have had a wonderful time using paper mache to create their Viking helmets. We've yet to paint them!! We'll have aprons at the ready!!!

The children have now created their own Viking amulets and helmets in readiness for their Viking Day on Thursday 11th April (a fun-packed day incorporating lots of Viking themed activities). As we highlighted earlier this half term, the children are invited to come on Thursday dressed in 'Viking fancy dress'! However, this may simply be Viking- coloured clothing (ie items of his/her own clothing in neutral colours eg browns or greens) or, if preferred, a Viking costume. If you are having any difficulty at all locating suitable clothing please do pop in to see me or Miss Henson as we do have some pieces of fabric that could be easily transformed into a Viking costume using belts/brooches etc so please don't feel pressured into purchasing an expensive costume. If you would like to come and join us for an hour or so on Thursday to join in our busy creative activities (cooking included) please do call in and let one of us know; you are more than welcome! We are all very excited!

Here's the spellings for this week;

sadly

finally

happily

angrily

gently

simply

basically

dramatically

measure

treasure

Maths IXL C.8 (converting digits to words)

Eng IXL: A.4 (poetry and rhyming)

Please don't hesitate to call in to speak to us if there is anything at all you or your child are concerned about.

Thanks again

Mrs Matthews and Miss Henson
