Class 1 Mr Hobson
I am excited for an action-packed year of learning and fun. Year 1 is a transitionary point in school and the children develop so quickly!
During the academic year, we will look at topics such as the United Kingdom, the history of toys, Arctic regions and London, to name just a few. We will build up map skills, spotting the name of oceans, continents and countries. Old and new toys will introduce the idea of history. Using timelines and comparisons, class 1 will explore the differences between old and new.
We will look at classics like ‘The Tiger Who Came For Tea’, before moving onto multi-media stimulus like ‘The Night Zookeeper’ in English, all the while focussing on consistently remembering the big three…capital letters, finger spaces and full stops!
Our learning in maths is extremely practical, using a wide range of apparatus to make concepts come alive and ensuring that the foundations of the maths curriculum are remembered into the future.
All in all, year 1 is a fast-paced, energetic and exciting environment to develop in!
