Primary School

Friends of Netherthong School

Welcome to the Friends of Netherthong School  page.  We hope the information contained here will be useful to you and keep you informed of our activities.  All parents, guardians and teachers of children at Netherthong Primary School are automatically members of the Friends of Netherthong School.

The role of the FONS is raising funds for our school by organising social events and providing links between parents, teachers, children and the local community. FONS is run by a volunteer committee of parents and teachers which usually meet once a term. However, all are welcome at the meetings so please come along whenever possible. The main officers of the committee are:

Chairs:  Therese Cranston/ Diane Myers

Treasurer: Kieran Buckley

Secretary: Andrew Lecomber-Peace

Please approach any one of us, at any time - we are all really friendly and want the same as you.
The aim is to get more of you involved; this is YOUR organisation - you are all members - and we are doing this, on a purely voluntary basis, to benefit the children of Netherthong School.
We appreciate your support, so that our school, which we love, can continue to thrive; nurturing and producing successful and happy children, who are ready for the next steps in life.

The main use of funds is to provide Netherthong Primary School with additional resources and funding for activities outside of the school budget. For example, in the past funds have supported the school library in the purchase of furniture and new books, purchasing Ipods for each class for multi-media purposes and organising Christmas theatre visits.

In order to generate funds, we organise a number of school events during the year including the Summer and Winter Fairs, discos and movie nights; all of which are supported by the staff, parents and local community in terms of time, effort and donations!

For details regarding forthcoming FONS meetings and events please refer to the school calendar.
