Wow!! We had lots of scientific fun this morning. We tested Lightening McQueen and a few of his friends to see how well they travelled on different surfaces. We concluded that the cars travelled further on a smooth surface.
Well done Year 3.

Hello All!
Welcome back!
The children are already hard at work practising for the Miss Sunderland 'Valentine's Day Festival' and are very much looking forwards to it. They have, this week, brought home words for the songs so they can keep practising and a letter to inform you of details of the event and how to order tickets. Last year the children absolutely loved the event and we were delighted to see so many children attend the evening event; it really is very exciting!
Homework this week is;
Maths IXL J.9 (problem solving)
English IXL G.1 (spelling)
Spellings this week are;
accident (ally)
actual (ly)
address
answer
appear
arrive
believe
bicycle
breath
Please keep working on times tables too; especially x3, x4, x8, x6
Thanks so much,
Mrs Matthews

We have been working really hard this morning learning how to input data into a spread sheet. We then used this data to create graphs and charts to help us investigate the information. Curry is very popular here!
Well Done Year 3!

New Year!

Welcome back!
I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas break with your children and that they are ready for another busy and exciting half term!
Thank you so very very much for all the wonderful Christmas cards and gifts you kindly gave us before the holidays; you really are so very kind, thank you!
You will have noticed I didn't send any homework home on the last Friday; my Christmas present to you all!! The children understandably preferred not to have a spelling test on their final day in school so agreed to work on them a little longer prior to a quick test this Friday; hope that's ok. So, the spellings they should be working on this week are ;
subheading
subdivide
submerge
subway
submarine
subsoil
subzero
subtitle
NN: thought
The children are hoping to bring home their Iron Men and Stone Age villages (if they haven't already) so if you have any spare carrier bags at home they would be very handy this week (asap!!)
Thanks so much
Mrs Matthews
Last week of the Autumn term!

I cannot believe we are already beginning the last week of the Autumn term; where has it gone? We have a very busy and exciting week ahead; with Christmas performances, Christmas parties and lots of Christmas themed activities (but highly educational too of course)!
Homework on Friday was as follows;
Maths IXL; CC.9 (multiplication)
English IXL; P.6 (more work on adverbs)
Our spellings are;
(using the prefix 'sub')
subheading, subdivide, submerge, subway, submarine, subsoil, subzero,subtitle and finally 'thought'
Please can the children continue to practise their 6x tables (as well as those we have already been working on)
Thanks so very much
Mrs Matthews
