Class 3
International Womens Day - 8.3.2019
admin on: Class 3
We have been talking about International Womens Day in Year 3. The children had a lot of opinions on this and we held a fantastic disscussion. The children were amazed to hear about the differences in the lives of women throughout history and all over the world.
We discussed the famous author George Elliott and the female mathematicians who worked for NASA during the Space Race and went largly unknow for many years.
Well done Year 3, we are proud of your opinions and feelings.

Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed the first of their 2 days 'Road Safety' training today. They walked around the village, learning all about the safest ways to cross our roads. It's just a shame the rain began to pour before our first group returned to the classroom!

Last week of Spring 1
admin on: Class 3
Hello!
We had a fabulous week last week! Firstly the children were delighted to meet our new student teacher, Miss Henson. She will be joining us for the next half term. The children also thoroughly enjoyed designing and then finally making their amazing and very healthy sandwiches and wraps. As the weather was kind to us they also enjoyed eating them outside on the benches beneath the blossom trees (yes, there was just a little blossom visible already!!).
We hope you enjoyed the Valentine's Day Performance as much as we did; the children thoroughly enjoyed every minute of both the morning workshop and the evening performance. They were just brilliant and it was an absolute pleasure taking them and joining them on the stage. We really will miss practising those wonderful songs every day; I think the whole of Key Stage 2 now know the words!!
Hope you are all enjoying a week's break with your children. As we will be focusing on the Vikings from week 2 onwards I've asked the children to do a little research of their own; using texts and the internet. It would be lovely to see their pictures and non-fiction writing after the holidays, but no rush (just whenever you like over the next couple of weeks). During the last week of this half term we will be having a 'Viking Day'- no pressure at all, but if your child would like to dress up they may do so (not yet sorted my costume but am planning on doing so!!). We will be having lots of activities, including some exciting cooking.
I've not asked the children to complete any IXL but here are the spellings;
later
first
swan
bigger
longest
cage
catch
discover
collect
broken
Thanks so much
Mrs Matthews
