Good evening!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

The children really enjoyed our very first lesson today; they were greeted with the exciting challenge of building a 2D skeleton and labelling it with the correct scientific names for most of the bones! They loved it! I'll post some of the photos this week.

There are 3 activities on 'Mathletics' for the children to complete; this week they are based on statistics; pictograms, bar graphs etc. Please encourage your child to try these and then have a go at other activities they find tricky, even if they have had a go before. The more activities they complete, the more confidence they will develop. Our competition across school continues!!

Please, please keep practising times tables with your child; as always, many children find them tricky to learn. However, they are essential in the majority of our maths activities so do keep practising on a daily basis.

The children are finding the 'irregular past tense' a little tricky and so the spellings I've given them to practise this week focus on this (eg grow...grew, find.....found etc). Please help your child practise these spellings. Good luck!

Thank you so much

World Book Day - Thursday

admin on: Class 3

We're all getting very excited for this Thursday's World Book Day!

The theme is 'Share a Million Stories', so we'll be swapping books with friends (please bring in a pre-loved book that you are OK to swap with a friend), using the wonderful picture book 'Flood' to inspire writing across and the school and then sharing bedtime stories at the end of the day. If you wish to join your child's class, then you are welcome into school from 2:45pm. Children are OK to bring in teddies and dressing gowns to get the full bedtime story effect!

Good evening!

We had a wonderful first week back this week. The children have finally completed their fabulous lunch boxes, in preparation for their healthy snacks! We'll be preparing to make those very soon! We've been very busy writing some lovely short stories too and are looking forwards to beginning our new text for Literacy this week; 'Into the Forest'. It's a great text to stimulate many genres of writing and involves lots of role play and art too.

Our spelling focus this week is once again word endings; please could the children bring their completed sheet to me by Thursday prior to our quiz! I was delighted to see how well the children did last week. Once again I have highlighted some Mathletics activities for the children to complete too; please encourage your child to try each of these activities; they help the children make such great progress in maths. I've encouraged all the children to try and do more Mathletics than they are currently doing at the moment. Year 3 need to win the most certificates this week!!!

Thanks so much for all your support at home with homework and reading too.

Thanks again

Week ending 14th February

admin on: Class 3

What a brilliant week we have had! The children have worked exceptionally hard; not only have they made the most amazing 'lunch boxes' and developed fabulous hockey skills, they have sung their hearts out not only twice in the Town Hall on Thursday, but also for the whole school in assembly. Mrs Pearce and myself could not feel more proud of them all; they have all learnt every single word of the many tricky songs they sang and have performed them with such wonderful enthusiasm. Many thanks for all your support at home and also in the Town Hall.

Our 'Mathletics' for this week involves multiplication and division practice; I have assigned 3 activities as each will help develop the children's confidence with times tables.

Our spelling focus this week is the 'ed' suffix; please encourage your child to try and learn the rule as well as complete the activity. Learning how to spell some of those words would be of enormous benefit.

Hope you all have a great holiday with your children.

Many thanks once again for all your support!
