We've had a super week this week. The children have loved observing their science investigation progress; we have been conducting a fair test to determine whether or not all plants need sunshine, soil and water to grow healthily. We've been comparing cress to radishes and making observations as they grow in their different conditions. The children have been finding it very exciting! They are becoming fabulous scientists!

The children are certainly becoming amazing artists too. I am so impressed with the progress they have made whilst we have been focusing on Spring pastels and paintings. This week we looked at some of David Hockney's recent Spring collection and looked at how he had created the background before beginning his blossom trees. Here are just a few examples of the children's work. Miss Littler is currently in the process of completing a fabulous display of their work. I'll post a photo of it when it is completed. Next week the children will be working on Cezanne landscapes; watch this space!!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

We hope you have all had a wonderful Easter. It has been a super first week back in year 3. We have all been delighted to welcome Jemima back and have been joined by Miss Littler too. Both Miss Hewitt and Miss Littler provide wonderful support every day now in year 3.

This week we have made the most of the gorgeous Cherry Blossom trees in our grounds, as well as the lovely weather too! The children have thoroughly enjoyed creating beautiful pastel drawings and have then enjoyed painting them too. Miss Munday, our newest member of staff, joined us earlier in the week to help the children develop their painting skills. The children were delighted to meet her and make the most of her artistic background as an art teacher in High School.

Towards the end of the week the children have had a superb time weeding and preparing our vegetable and flower beds outside our classroom, ready for some serious vegetable planting! Thank you so much to Mrs Pearce for all your hard work with the children. Mrs Pearce has thoroughly enjoyed working in small groups with all our class and class 4 too.

In class, we have been conducting investigations to find out whether plants really do need sunlight and water to grow healthily; it has been a little like a science lab in class 3 this week! We've been learning how to conduct a 'fair test'.

Here are a few photos of the pastel drawings and paintings the children have completed;

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good evening everyone!

We have had another wonderful week in year 3, with lots of super outdoor learning. We've made the most of the slightly higher temperatures this week; we enjoyed outdoor role play in literacy, landscape art and lots of hockey too. As the children have enjoyed learning all about pollination in flowering plants and have been developing super skills in art, they have created some amazing close up pastel drawings of beautiful lilies. Here are just a few examples of the wonderful images they have created.

I'm sure you'll agree, they are becoming wonderful artists!

Have a fabulous two weeks holiday and enjoy lots of yummy chocolate!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews

Good evening!

We've had a great week in year 3. As a school we were all treated to a lovely, relaxing yoga session for each class, led by experts from our Partnership; very relaxing indeed! We began the week by learning all about Road Safety; the children went into the village to practise the safe skills they had learnt. It was an excellent day. The children have enjoyed perfecting their hockey skills outside in the Spring weather, creating gorgeous pastel drawings of Spring flowers, role play and investigative science. The children were delighted at dissecting flowers today! They were amazed they could find all the parts of the flowers involved in pollination and fertilization. Here is a selection of photos!

What a wonderful first week back we have all had in Year 3! It has been so lovely to finally see all the children back together. We have been busy making lovely 'Positivity Boxes' and have filled them with wonderful positive comments about ourselves and passed lovely comments onto others for their boxes too. The children have loved it. They have been very busy estimating and measuring this week too and have had fun outdoors as they have learnt. The children have thoroughly enjoyed designing and making special gifts for Mother's Day too. Here are just a few photos from this week!
