Happy New Year 1st January 2021

admin on: Class 3

Happy New Year to you all! Let's hope we all have a very happy, healthy and much more 'normal' year this year!

Hope you all had a truely wonderful Christmas.

We had a fabulous last week in school; the children enjoyed taking part in a wide range of fun and exciting Christmas activities. These not only included a wide range of Christmas themed craft and curriculum activities, but also our very own Christmas production, an exciting Christmas party and not forgetting the wonderful Christmas pantomime too!

Thank you so very much for all your very generous and wonderful gifts and Christmas cards; we were very touched by your kindness. It is an absolute pleasure teaching your children and I'm very much looking forwards to sharing the brand new Spring term with them.

Enjoy your weekend!

See you all very soon,

Mrs Matthews x

Christmas crafting!

admin on: Class 3

15th December 2020

This morning, myself and year 3 have had lots of fun creating different Christmas crafts. We have made paper Christmas trees, paper chains and Christmas cards with our handprints and we used special acrylic pens to draw Christmas scenes on Petri dishes.

What a busy afternoon we have had!

Have a lovely Christmas break and see you all in 2021!

Miss H xx

Friday 20th November

admin on: Class 3

Good evening all!

I've thoroughly enjoyed yet another fabulous week with your wonderful children; I am really enjoying every minute teaching them. They listen beautifully and work so very hard all week; you should be so proud of them all.

Here are the spellings for this next week (I have warned the children they will be getting harder next week!!);

door

floor

poor

climb

sure

sugar

eye

whole

I'll add these to Spelling Shed this evening.

I've selected 2 activities for the children to complete on 'Mathletics' too; these are more 'column addition' and 'complements to 10, 20, 50' (ie number bonds).

I have also asked the children if they would make a note of things they do in the home or outdoors that require a 'push', a 'pull' or perhaps even both. They could make a simple table with headings 'push', 'pull' and 'both'. This will help their understanding of the forces we will be discussing in science next week. If you have a busy weekend and don't get time please don't worry, but it is a good one to keep them busy whilst you have 5 minutes to yourself!!

Have a great weekend!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews

Friday 13th November

Good evening everyone!

Wow! What a busy week we have all had this week! We have been very busy making clay poppies and have been working really hard to complete our Iron Man 3D scenes in our shoe boxes. When we have finally finished painting our poppies and added the final touches to the Iron Man scenes we'll make a lovely display. I'll take some photos and add them to the blog at some point too.

I've put some spellings again on 'Spelling Shed' and assigned 2 multiplication activities on 'Mathletics'; let's try really, really hard this week to win the award for work on both! It would be lovely to get the trophy back again! I have just added a short quiz on Teams too; have fun and let me know what you think!

Don't forget our Teams meeting at 4pm on Monday. Your login details are in your diary; I'd love it if as many of you as possible can join the meeting. I realize some of you will be at club, but if not please come on and join me. Miss Kelly is looking forwards to seeing as many of you as possible join our class 3 meeting!

Finally, please come in P.E. kit on Tuesday instead of Wednesday this week as we will be taking part in a Cross Country run; this is a school competition, but also our results will be going towards an inter-school competition too. Very exciting!

Have a wonderful weekend!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews x

Homework 6.11.20

admin on: Class 3

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely half term with your children; it's a shame the weather wasn't a little kinder to us all!

It's been another busy but fun week once again here in year 3. We've been very professional scientists, conducting investigations on different soils; testing for permeability would you believe?! The children loved their science afternoon, each with a different job to do. We've extended our learning in French; I'm amazed how well the children are taking to French. They seem to love it as much as I do! Today we have begun working on our 3D Iron Man scenes; very exciting but perhaps a little messy for a Friday afternoon- great fun though!!

Please could you encourage your child to practise the 3 and 4x tables, before we then begin to focus on the eights. I have selected a subtraction activity on 'Mathletics' for the children, but please do encourage your child to try other activities too as this really does help consolidate their learning. Again, the spellings are on 'Spelling Shed'. Well done to Jack for your 3rd place in the school 'Spelling Shed' competition. Who will be awarded a place next week? Remember children too, we are aiming to win the 'Mathletics' prize again too!!

Here are our spellings...

gold

hold

told

busy

water

dropped

flopped

patted

Have a fabulous weekend, despite the fact that there's nowhere open to visit!!

Take care and stay safe all!

From,

Mrs Matthews x
