Remembrance Day 2021

admin on: Class 3

11th November 2021

Today, the whole school came together and stood in the playground, in their classes, to take part in the 2 minutes silence. During this time, we remembered all of the people and animals who we have lost and those who are still helping to keep us safe. We are incredibly proud of how all of the children conducted themselves.

Remember, remember the 5th of November! I hope you all manage to enjoy watching some fireworks safely this weekend. I look forward to hearing about your adventures on Monday.

We have had a busy start to the new half term. Unfortunately, it was a little soggy and we were unable to take part in our outdoor learning session. Hopefully, we will be able to make up for that on Monday.

In Maths, we have been solving addition and subtraction calculations using the column methods. We have played games with the number-fans, developing our speed when adding single-digit numbers together.

In English, we started reading The Iron Man and have been writing down our own stories about where we think he came from. What wonderful imaginations we all have!

Our science topic this half term is all about forces and magnets. We discovered that forces are pushes and pulls and sometimes we need more force when pushing or pulling an object on different surfaces. We investigated our ideas using toy cars on different materials.

As you may have seen in the newsletter, we will be running a range of fun activities for the children during the week of the 15th November for Children in Need. If you are in a position to donate, we are asking this to be done online via this link. Please don't bring any money into school. Thank you!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

We have had another fabulous week.  Where the children have learnt How to wash a woolly mammoth!  All you will need is a crane to help lift him into the bath and possibly some Mammoth Shampoo!

How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth - Michelle Robinson, mammoth, instructions

We have also had a go at listening to instructions and drawing pictures.  We all had the same instructions and we all ended up creating slightly different pictures.  It was lots of fun, you could have a go at home.

One of our PE sessions each week has been a real treat.  Lucy has been in and we have learnt so much about dance.  We have tried ballet, jazz, partner, contemporary, tap and musical theatre.  Miss Watkins certainly enjoyed herself, but I think all of the children have too.  Thank you to Lucy and well done to all of the children.

Have a wonderful half term, keep safe and see you all in November.

Well done this week everyone.

We have been working really hard on our times-tables.  We have looked at our 2, 5, 10 and even our 3's this week.  Keep having a go at them at home.

2 Times Table | Two Times Table | DK Find Out5 Times Table | Five Times Table | DK Find Out

10 Times Table | Ten Times Table | DK Find Out3 Times Table | Three Times Table | DK Find Out

In our outdoor learning session, we worked in groups to make tracking signs for other teams to follow. We think the people living in the Stone Age would have done a similar thing.

We have also been learning about Stonehenge and created some fabulous silhouette artwork.

Our Stone Age, salt-dough jewellery is coming along nicely too!

Well done with everything.  Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

This week we took our RE lesson into the woods for our outdoor learning session. We have been learning about Judaism and the celebration of Passover. We created Sedar plates out of natural resources and had lots of fun whilst learning about what is eaten during the Passover meal.

In History, we have learned that Stone Age people didn't waste the things around them and would use every part of their kills. We had a very fun but very messy afternoon on Monday (I apologise for the flour-covered uniforms!) We made our own salt-dough (the evidence is still in the carpet) and used it to create the shapes of teeth, bones and shells. Once this has dried out we will be making our own Stone Age jewellery.

In English, we have been writing our own explanations about how fossils are formed.

This week we have been amazing on Mathletics - lots of Bronze certificates. Well done everyone, keep up the good work!
