What a week!  You have all worked so hard to learn your lines for our Christmas play.  Thank you for that.  You have really impressed me.  The songs are sounding wonderful and your costumes will look amazing.

We had a special treat this week – The Panto!

Oh no we didn’t!

Miss Watkins, Mrs. Kewley and Mrs. Moran are now looking for a new career in dancing!

We are all looking forward to next week and our adventures on the stage.  I can certainly hear jingle bells!

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Watkins and team.

He's behind you!!!

Look at who is visiting Class 3!

We have had a lovely week learning some poetry.  We learnt to say two poems aloud.  The first one was called I think mice are rather nice and the second was called Cats sleep anywhere.

We really enjoyed learning these.  We also read lots of other poems by different poets, such as Clive Watkins, T S Elliot, Charles Causley and Ted Hughes.

We have been learning how to complete division using repeated subtraction in maths.  We drew number lines to help us.

In PE, we were using the equipment to jump and balance on, with Mr Barton.  We have also played netball with Mrs Kendal.

In geography, we looked at the tectonic plates and the fault lines.  The plates move and can cause earthquakes and other natural disasters to occur.

We have had a wonderful and interesting week.

Children in Need

BBC - BBC Children in Need

What a spotty lot!  We had lots of discussions today about Children in Need.  What is is, when it began (1927!) and how it helps lots of children around the UK.  Class 3, you really impressed me with your compassion and understanding.

We have had a busy week.  You have written some new and incredible stories all about the Iron Man and his adventures.  He has saved the Christmas play, made new friends, visited Netherthong and nipped to other planets!  You writing has included expanded noun phrases, wonderful adverbs and conjunctions and, as for your handwriting, wow!

In maths, we have been learning all about short multiplication.  We used multiplication grids to help us.  It was tricky, but you worked hard to understand this.  I am proud of you again!  And we won the Mathletics trophy!

We have learnt about hurricanes, how they form, where they occur and how to keep safe if we we caught up in one.

We also created some wonderful images in art.  We looked at the artists Kandinsky and Miro.  The children discussed their paintings in a very mature way.

Keep working hard class 3.

Miss Watkins

We have had a busy week this week learning so many new things!

In Maths this week, we were finding out about different fractions including tenths, fifths, quarters, thirds and halves. We learnt that you needed ten tenths to make a whole one and five tenths is the same as a half.

In Science, we looked at magnets and their forces. The magnets can ping together and get stuck to each other. We measured the distance between how close a paper clip can get to a magnet before the magnetic force pulled the paperclip to the it. We found it was 1cm distance.

In Literacy, we are continuing to read the story of The Iron Man and his adventures. We focused on writing a formal letter and wrote the letters to all sorts of important people – the American President, the Prime Minister and the King. The letters would contain details about a plan to stop the space – bat – angel – dragon from eating all living things. We only had one week to stop him! It was very exciting to ask such important people for help.

In PE, we got out the gym equipment safely: a bench, three platforms one big, one medium and one small and lots of mats. We practiced our balancing, climbing and jumping again, making sure we took our time and finished off our balances and jumps.

In Geography, we investigated Volcanos and found out that the magma that comes out of the volcano turns into lava and there is an eruption of an ash cloud, which is very dangerous and more dangerous than the lava.

In PSHCE, we learnt about hidden dangers in the house such as hair straighteners, wires and plugs, candles, hot pans, irons and overloading sockets.

Our favourite dinner this week was chicken burger and salmon pasta bake.

Written by Ishan and Maxwell.

What a great week this week, class3.  Keep it up!

Miss Watkins and team.
