Good afternoon all!

This week we have 'explored' the story of Ernest Shackleton, his crew and the Endurance further! We have watched real footage from 1914 and looked at the journey until Elephant Island. We still don't know their fate and supplies are dwindling! Will they make it home? We will find out next week!

In Maths, we are measuring weight in grams and kilograms!  If you are up for a baking project, get the children to help weigh out ingredients!

We had a brilliant dance lesson this week, in which we had a go at putting together some tap moves! The class were excellent and by the end they all had new moves!

We finished off the week by taking a sea shanty we have previously covered and editing it to create our own versions, they were very good and it was wonderful to see how confident the class were to share their ideas with others!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all,

October is here already! I can't believe it!

Here are a few standout parts of our lovely week in year two!

Buddies! The children have had the opportunity to say hello to their buddies this week! I have heard several children coming out of school and telling you parents that they have had a play with their buddies from year five!

Shackleton and the Endurance! We have really been getting into the story of Ernest Shackleton this week. The class have acted out different roles on the voyage and we have watched some fascinating footage of the expedition, recorded by the expedition photographer, Frank Hurley!

Harvest! We have loved taking part in the live lessons in association with the NFU! We have loved learning about how we end up with food in our homes and where that food comes from!

Thanks and have a lovely weekend!

Thanks

Mr. H.

Good afternoon,

First off, a little housekeeping!

Class two have stuck in their own log in details for Teams, Spelling Shed, Mathletics and PurpleMash today. You will find these at the back of their reading records.

- Don't forget to check Teams to find out about homework.

We have had a fantastic week in year two! The class have been so grown up!

We have started to sink our teeth into our Explorers topic!

In English, we are reading Shackleton's journey by William Grill. We looked at the real advert Shackleton published to find a crew to join him on the journey across Antarctica and have had a go at writing our own! Some of the class thought the advert should paint a nice picture of an Antarctic expedition whilst others believed it would be better to say it how it is!

Money, money, money!

The class have been using money in maths this week. They have added coins up to make totals, added prices up to know how much something comes to and paid with exact change plus they even had a go at working out how much change they would need if they used a larger coin.

We have looked at Christopher Columbus in history too and enjoyed making Antarctic backgrounds with Miss Monday in art!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks

Mr. H.

Good afternoon everybody and happy Friday!

I just wanted to give you a quick update on our return to school and the move up into year two.

The class have been wonderful and have loved being in a new classroom.

They have all grown over the summer and it is wonderful to have them back in school!

Our topic at the moment is Explorers and to kick it off, we have been singing sea shanties and getting an idea of what life was like on board some ships in the past.

Check Teams next week for our first homework update and have a lovely weekend!

Thanks

Mr. H.
