Good morning everyone, Miss H here!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and didn’t each too much chocolate! In between enjoying the glorious weather, I have been spending time painting. For Christmas, my sister got me a colour by numbers canvas to paint with a picture of a dog (She said that she had finally got me what I always wanted, my own dog!). I started this over the Christmas holiday but have not had the chance to add to it. I have found this so therapeutic and many hours have been lost while I have painted listening to music on the radio. Here is what it is going to look like …

Here is what mine looks like so far …

What do you think? What have you been doing to relax over this most turbulent time? Send me an email showing me!

Here is the suggested timetable for the day:

E.R.I.C. - Everybody Reading in Class for 20 mins (remember to record your reading in your planners)

Active time - Joe Wicks guided PE lesson at 9am

(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ)

Maths/Reading Comprehension - do this in batches of 20 mins each, build in breaks.

Break - Could you help make lunch for everyone in your house?

Geography

Maths;

8 questions;

  1. 871 + 315
  2. 582 - 211
  3. 52 x 4
  4. 860 divided by 10
  5. 64 x 100
  6. 1/6 of 120
  7. 1/10 + 6/10
  8. 375 + 20

Activity;

Reading comprehension;

Please keep reading 1 to 1 with an adult every day; this will not only improve your reading skills, but also your creative writing. Remember, authors ‘magpie’ ideas from each other all the time! Whenever you read please ask whoever you are reading to, to ask you lots of comprehension questions as you read.

Choose one activity from your pack or try this comprehension about garden birds. I have been paying quite a lot of attention to the birds that have been appearing in my Grandma’s back garden as everywhere is so quiet, you can really hear all of the different birds, especially Robins and Blackbirds. What birds can you see? Maybe you could record the different bird you see in a day in a table?

Geography

You are going to be starting a new topic of UK geography this half term. The UK stands for The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Can you write down which countries make up the UK? Now write down which countries make up Great Britain?

Using an atlas or a map of the UK on the internet, can you label all the different cities shown on this map here.

An extra challenge: Can you find the town you live in and label it on the map?

Here is the Lego challenge for today! Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do …

Have fun!

Keep sending your lovely emails and photos! Please don't hesitate to email me to let me know if you are having any difficulties with any of the activities. I am here to help!

Stay safe!

Miss H

Happy Easter! 10.4.20

admin on: Class 3

Happy Easter everyone!

Let's hope the sun continues to shine and you all have a fabulous Easter weekend; with lots of very tasty chocolate!!

Here's a couple of extra challenges for you!

Easter Egg Hunt;

Why not create your own Easter Egg hunt for someone else in your family? It might be for Mum or Dad or perhaps a younger sister or brother! You'll need some tasty treats for them to find; it could be small chocolate eggs, mini eggs, chocolate buttons or other tasty treats. You could even have fun wrapping up the treats (perhaps a bundle of mini eggs in each); it makes it more exciting! You'd need to decide on different hiding places for your treats/eggs and write clues to guide the 'egg hunter' to each one. You'll need an initial clue to help them find your first hidden treat and then your next clue should be with the first treat, guiding the hunters to your next hidden treat......and so it goes on!!

Domino fun!!

Your second Easter challenge is to build a 'domino run'; lining up the dominoes on their ends so that when one topples over, the rest gradually follow. If you have more than one box, use them all! If you have a 'marble run' you may want to use it to begin your course. Can you create a tricky 'domino run'? You may get so good at lining them up that you can build the run to go over obstacles or from one level to another. Have a go and see how many you can successfully set up along a tricky route before then watching them all gradually topple over one by one. Who can build the longest successful 'domino run'?

Have lots of fun and a great weekend and please don't forget to send me any photos of your challenges in action!!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews

Another Year 3 challenge!! 8.3.20

admin on: Class 3

Good afternoon super team!

Time for another challenge!!

But first, here's Alfie's Spaghetti Challenge successfully completed! He enjoyed a fruit kebab to celebrate too!!

Now here's another Easter hols challenge for you!

Do you happen to have a pack of playing cards handy?

Can you build a playing card pyramid? It's very tricky indeed so you will need to involve other family members! You may decide you are so good at it you could have a family competition or even a class 3 competition!!

Who can build the tallest pyramid?

Don't get cross if it keeps falling down, just take a photo and post it on the blog!!

A non-slippery, but flat surface is the best place to start.

Enjoy!!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews

Spaghetti fun! 6th April

admin on: Class 3

Good morning all!

Here's a fun challenge to begin your Easter holidays!

Spaghetti Towers!!

You will need;

Spaghetti (uncooked!!)

Something sticky, eg blue tac, plasticine, marshmallows or even screwed up balls of sellotape (sticky side out!!)

A flat surface

Challenge;

Can you build a 3D  spaghetti sculpture?

You can use the full lengths of the pasta or break it to make smaller pieces.

You might want to make smaller 3D shapes eg a cube, cuboid, pyramid, prism etc

You may decide you want to challenge yourself to make a tall tower.

Think about how you can make sure it is strong and as sturdy as possible.

Have fun and remember to be patient; it's not an easy challenge!!

Take a photo of your construction!

Enjoy!!

See you soon!
