At home, we have been looking through old photos and reminiscing about what life used to be like. This is something I always like to do as I am fascinated with the history behind different photographs. Recently, before the virus, we even got out an old projector with different little slides that you have to push into the projector to move them on. Today, we are going to be looking at grammar. We are going to a little recapping and have a focus on nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and prepositions. Good morning you super little munchkins!
I do hope the sun makes an appearance again soon! I do miss it so! Well done to everyone who took part in Netherthong Race for Life! We raised a massive £1,573.25! Thank you to everyone who donated to this wonderful cause! Well done to Mrs Barker for organising it and running all those times around the playground! Someone sent me this and I thought it might be an interesting thing for us to do on our daily early morning walk. We loved taking the time to look around to try to spot the different leaves! Bienvenue! Today, I thought that we could play a game in French to help consolidate your knowledge of the colours. You play this game in pairs. Players take a set of coloured counters each. Player one chooses a space, names that picture using the correct French word and covers it with their counter. Player two then does the same. Play continues until one player has four counters in a row. Good luck! Also, remember Duolingo which is a fabulous way to learn in short, easy sessions. Here is an image of the game as well …

Howdy do to all of you!
Lots of you have been sending in what you did to commemorate VE Day, here are some of your pictures ...

Well I have been very busy baking in our house at the moment! As well as the VE Day celebration treats, I decided to make a cake for some key workers that I know. Some key workers go very much under the radar and I wanted to show them how much we appreciate what they are doing. We only had pink icing in our cupboards, so that is what we used to cover the cake! Here is our lemon cake with homemade lemon curd filling, iced and decorated cake. What do you think?
Lots of you have been baking and I love seeing your photos! Do you have any recipes that you could recommend for me? I am going to be using one that Alfie suggested for a pizza this week so will keep you posted when we try it!
Remember, today is Netherthong Race for Life! Who is going to be joining Mrs Barker in completing it? I will be doing mine with Mrs Hemingway this morning! Let you know what you do.

Time for some more creative writing! I hope that this week we can work collaboratively to create something as a class!
We are going to make an information book about different hobbies that you enjoy. You will need to choose the maximum of three hobbies that you do. Remember it could be drama, music, art and craft, sport or something else that you do.
Today, I would like you to make some notes about the hobbies you have chosen. Remember you need to inform people what the hobby is, what it entails and why you enjoy it so much. Here is a planning sheet for guidance if you need it:
When you all send me your work after we have written it tomorrow, I will put them all together in a book that you can all read!

Today, we are going to be looking at the Muslim festival of Ramadan. I know that Arjeta is taking part in this so it is quite important that we know and understand a little more about this important religious festival. I would like you to research this festival then fill out the activity I have set as a 2Do on PurpleMash. Here are some sources of information you can use if you would like:

Carrying on with the collaborative theme I would like to create our very own Bee Happy wall as a class! But how I hear you cry, we have Mrs Barker to thank for this!
Mrs Barker introduced us to something called ‘Padlet’ which is like a virtual piece of paper that we can all get to and write on! If you click on the link below, you will be sent to a new window. Hopefully, you will see that I have started us off by adding my own quote to make you smile! If you double click on the piece of paper or click the ‘plus’ button, you can begin typing. In the title part, I’d like you to put your name, then we can see who has contributed. You need to write your message to everyone then press the enter button. You can add images or doodles that you can draw by pressing on the ellipsis (…). I am looking forward to your posts to make me and others smile! Here is a link to our Padlet:

How did you get on learning the World War Two classic, We’ll Meet Again? This week I thought we would learn another classic song from the next decade along, 1940s last week, hello the 1950s! Here is the song Yakety Yak by The Coasters. Try learning this and performing it to people at home! Also, do a little research into music in the 1950s. Here are some questions to help you get started:

- What genre of music was most popular?
- What instruments were used most during this decade?

Race for Life

So the Netherthong Race for Life is tomorrow at 1pm! I know so many of you have organised your own event in your gardens and surrounding areas. We have had so much support through the fundraising link, we are now at around 75% of our £1000 target. Please keep sharing this link so that we can reach our goal.
If you take any photos or videos of your event, please email them to class2@netherthongprimary.co.uk If you send in your pictures, we will automatically presume you give us permission to use on the website and other sites associated with Cancer Research. I hope to put some kind of montage together when I recover from running around the playground! This will be a wonderful whole school collaboration at a time when we can’t be together. Good luck – knowing that you are all there will spur me on, I’m sure!

Good morning! Miss H here again.
I hope you all had a marvellous weekend of commemorations and celebrations! On Friday, we were very patriotic in our house! We decided to have an afternoon tea party so got lots of baking done in the morning. Using my Grandma’s recipes, we made ginger biscuits, fruit scones and our version of a Victoria Sponge cake, where instead of cream and jam, we used homemade lemon curd and lemon buttercream for the topping. We sat out in the garden, basking in the sunshine and left pieces of cake for the neighbours who are also key workers!
Also, we took part in the 2 minutes silence, watched Sir Winston Churchill’s address to the nations, the same one he made 75 years ago and The Queen’s national address at the same time her father made a speech ¾ of a century ago! To end our day, we joined in with the sing-a-long to Dame Vera Lynn’s World War Two classic, We’ll Meet Again. It was such a moving day where my Grandma told us stories of what it was like, aged 11, during those troubled times.
