It is fun and funky Friday here for Class Three! Remember that today is ‘Uniform Day’, so please send us a picture of you in your uniform!
(By sending in a photo, you consent to it being used within school and on the school website.)
Have a look at our Bee Happy page, it is so heart-warming! Why not try to add something to make someone smile …
Guess who … Please do keep them coming so we can add more!
Here is something from me to you! ...
Last night I tried something that Alfie suggested to me a while ago. I made an ‘Alfie Pizza’. He recommended that we use tortilla wraps as a base! You place one wrap on a baking tray then sprinkle it with cheese before placing the second wrap on top of it. Doubling up the wrap gives it a thicker base and the cheese helps to bind them together. Then, you can add any toppings of your choice. We put peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn and of course cheese! Here is the pizza Alfie made:
Now here is mine …
What do you think? It was so delicious, hope it lives up to standard Alfie! Why don’t you have a go at an Alfie Pizza?
Here is the suggested timetable for today:

It is another fun Friday in literacy! Today we are going to write a story opening. Here is path but where does it lead?
Your task is to write the beginning of a story, describing where this path leads to. No more structure, it is your turn to be creative! Good luck …
Science;
Today we are going to be looking at reflection again but this week, with mirrors.
Have a look through the PowerPoint.
We are going to play two different mirror games. While you are playing the games, think carefully about how the mirrors are reflecting light. You could draw a table in your home school book or use a table that looks like this to record your thoughts:
The first game is called mirror messages. You should use your mirror to write a mirror message for someone.
- Write a short message on a piece of paper in normal writing (between one to three words is enough). Then hold a mirror at the right hand side of the page or hold the piece of paper to the right hand side of the mirror, so you can see your message reflected in the mirror.
- Copy the message you see in the mirror onto another piece of paper, so that your writing is reversed.
- Swap messages with someone, and hold the mirror at the left hand side of the page. Can you read their message in the mirror?
- Think about how the mirrors helped you read the messages.
The next game is called Mirror Maze. Outside or in your hall make a wavy line on the floor.
If you can, hold a mirror over your head so you can see the line and your feet reflected in it. If you don’t have a mirror, you could use a camera on a smartphone.
By looking only in the mirror, try to follow the wiggly line from one end to the other.
Take your time when carrying out this task and be very careful. Why does only being able to look in the mirror make this hard?
Thank you all so much for your hard work again this week, I am loving your creativity! I am going to create another collage of pictures tonight of all your fabulous work of the week so keep the emails coming today!
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe!

Well a good morning to you all on this marvellous Thursday!
Have a look at our Bee Happy page, it is so heart-warming! Why not try to add something to make someone smile ...
At home, we have been looking through old photos and reminiscing about what life used to be like. This is something I always like to do as I am fascinated with the history behind different photographs. Recently, before the virus, we even got out an old projector with different little slides that you have to push into the projector to move them on. Here are some of the photos that we came across of me …
Why not have a look back through some of your old photographs. You can send me some if you like and I will create a guess who collage!
Here is the suggested timetable for today:

Today, we are going to be looking at grammar. We are going to a little recapping and have a focus on nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and prepositions. Here are four tasks for you to complete, I have given you little reminders of the meanings of grammatical terms at the top of the sheet. Here are some images of the sheets:
Art;
For this week’s art lesson, I would like you to have a go at recreating a famous painting through photography.
Firstly, you need to choose a famous painting that you would like to recreate. Here are some examples of paintings you might choose …
Girl with a Pearl Earring – Johannes Vermeer
Mona Lisa – Leonardo Da Vinci
American Gothic – Grant Wood
The Persistence of Memory – Salvador Dalí
The Artists Garden at Giverny - Claude Monet
The Son of Man – Réne Magritte
Irises – Vincent Van Gough
Then, spend some time trying to create the relevant props you need. You might be able to use things from around your house (as long as you have your grown ups permission!) or you might want to make them out of paper. Next, take a photo of your recreated painting using either a digital camera or a smartphone. Here are some examples of recreated paintings that I found on Google …
Good luck and happy snapping!
Have a lovely day, stay safe and remember to be in touch!

Good morning you super little munchkins!
I do hope the sun makes an appearance again soon! I do miss it so! Well done to everyone who took part in Netherthong Race for Life! We raised a massive £1,573.25! Thank you to everyone who donated to this wonderful cause! Well done to Mrs Barker for organising it and running all those times around the playground! Someone sent me this and I thought it might be an interesting thing for us to do on our daily early morning walk. We loved taking the time to look around to try to spot the different leaves! Here is what was sent, maybe you could have a go at spotting the different leaves?

Thank you for those of you who have already sent me your plans for your hobby writing! I have loved reading them! Today, I would like you to write up your plans. Make them nice, bright and colourful. You could use pictures of you or ones that you have found.
I can’t wait to see what they are going to look like and say!
French;
Bienvenue! Today, I thought that we could play a game in French to help consolidate your knowledge of the colours. You play this game in pairs. Players take a set of coloured counters each. Player one chooses a space, names that picture using the correct French word and covers it with their counter. Player two then does the same. Play continues until one player has four counters in a row. Good luck! Also, remember Duolingo which is a fabulous way to learn in short, easy sessions. Here is an image of the game as well …
Have a lovely day and remember email us your work and to say hello!

Howdy do to all of you!
Lots of you have been sending in what you did to commemorate VE Day, here are some of your pictures ...
Please do keep sending in what you did and I will keep adding to this collage!
Well I have been very busy baking in our house at the moment! As well as the VE Day celebration treats, I decided to make a cake for some key workers that I know. Some key workers go very much under the radar and I wanted to show them how much we appreciate what they are doing. We only had pink icing in our cupboards, so that is what we used to cover the cake! Here is our lemon cake with homemade lemon curd filling, iced and decorated cake. What do you think?
Lots of you have been baking and I love seeing your photos! Do you have any recipes that you could recommend for me? I am going to be using one that Alfie suggested for a pizza this week so will keep you posted when we try it!
Remember, today is Netherthong Race for Life! Who is going to be joining Mrs Barker in completing it? I will be doing mine with Mrs Hemingway this morning! Let you know what you do.
Here is the suggested timetable for today:

Time for some more creative writing! I hope that this week we can work collaboratively to create something as a class!
We are going to make an information book about different hobbies that you enjoy. You will need to choose the maximum of three hobbies that you do. Remember it could be drama, music, art and craft, sport or something else that you do.
Today, I would like you to make some notes about the hobbies you have chosen. Remember you need to inform people what the hobby is, what it entails and why you enjoy it so much. Here is a planning sheet for guidance if you need it:
When you all send me your work after we have written it tomorrow, I will put them all together in a book that you can all read!
Computing/RE;
Today, we are going to be looking at the Muslim festival of Ramadan. I know that Arjeta is taking part in this so it is quite important that we know and understand a little more about this important religious festival. I would like you to research this festival then fill out the activity I have set as a 2Do on PurpleMash. Here are some sources of information you can use if you would like:
PSHE;
Carrying on with the collaborative theme I would like to create our very own Bee Happy wall as a class! But how I hear you cry, we have Mrs Barker to thank for this!
Mrs Barker introduced us to something called ‘Padlet’ which is like a virtual piece of paper that we can all get to and write on! If you click on the link below, you will be sent to a new window. Hopefully, you will see that I have started us off by adding my own quote to make you smile! If you double click on the piece of paper or click the ‘plus’ button, you can begin typing. In the title part, I’d like you to put your name, then we can see who has contributed. You need to write your message to everyone then press the enter button. You can add images or doodles that you can draw by pressing on the ellipsis (…). I am looking forward to your posts to make me and others smile! Here is a link to our Padlet:
Music;
How did you get on learning the World War Two classic, We’ll Meet Again? This week I thought we would learn another classic song from the next decade along, 1940s last week, hello the 1950s! Here is the song Yakety Yak by The Coasters. Try learning this and performing it to people at home! Also, do a little research into music in the 1950s. Here are some questions to help you get started:
- Which artists were popular?
- What genre of music was most popular?
- What instruments were used most during this decade?
Make notes and let me know how you get on! Here is a link to a YouTube video of the song and here are the lyrics.

Race for Life
admin on: Class 3
So the Netherthong Race for Life is tomorrow at 1pm! I know so many of you have organised your own event in your gardens and surrounding areas. We have had so much support through the fundraising link, we are now at around 75% of our £1000 target. Please keep sharing this link so that we can reach our goal.
If you take any photos or videos of your event, please email them to class2@netherthongprimary.co.uk If you send in your pictures, we will automatically presume you give us permission to use on the website and other sites associated with Cancer Research. I hope to put some kind of montage together when I recover from running around the playground! This will be a wonderful whole school collaboration at a time when we can’t be together. Good luck – knowing that you are all there will spur me on, I’m sure!
Happy running!
Mrs Barker
