Well we have made it to the end of week one!
Thankyou for your postive comments and I hope you have enjoyed learning about spiders and now have a better understanding of these amazing creatures.
I think you are getting into the routine now.
If you would like to finish off the weeks work then here are some activites you can try:
Go noodle - Dance
Register - day, date, Months and Weather outside
Phonics/Literacy/Reading
If you would like to finish the first 'Get Writing' Ditty book that would be great. You can then read the book through again.

This could help we have not covered 'ure' 'ear' these are taught in yr 1
I hope you have fun writing the spider poems. If you had a rest yesterday here is the template again and posh paper if you want to write it up or copy it into your green books.

You can read them out in the garden now and I hope there are some funny ones.
Read their home school book. There are many free books on https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/
Look for the RWI books as they are our scheme: RWI -Red or green or Big cats.
Mathematics - Maths seeds and Number books. We are playing bingo in school today. Great for number recognition and your can download playing cards from the internet.
Crafting, baking, playing games, constructing enjoying family time.

Good morning, super parents!
Great programmes are on Cbeebies and just heard Steve Backshall is on tomorow after Jo wicks on utube
I did read that home schooling for young children should only be work based for 1-2 hours a day.

Well, I didn't watch much news yesterday and felt better for it. The sun was so lovely. I hope you spent much of the day in your gardens and playing like I did with my own children.
Essentials.
Read and Read to your child. Absorb them in rich language. If you have Big Cats home school reading book there are activities in the back!
Write - A sentence with capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
You can do this in the green book with the topic writing or Ditty book Get Writing.
Improving letter formation, practice n h m l t.
Mathematics - However appropriate using different media, books, mathseeds and practical.
Play
Most other areas of learning can be done through play, talking looking up information and our amazing technology and apps.
Here are you suggested activities for the day.
Go Noodle
Register - those teddies and dinners. Say the day, month and date and the weather outside.
Phonics/Literacy
First Flash the speed sounds and red words. Have a go at reading the the sounds with ay in them lay may play tray clay stay ect.
Next look at the the powerpoint Facts about spider.
Then open the poem writing frame you can copy this out. This is your rough work. On Friday the children can copy their poems neatly onto nice lined paper or into the green books.
Have a go at this poem activity together it could be fun.
Break
Mathematics - number book or mathseeds number block on Cbeebies.
You could always make the cube today that came with you green book and turn it into a spider house. Talk about how many corners it has and faces. Look at how is is made from six squares.
Again use you imagination with number sentence stories. There are 3 Black Birds in the garden and 6 Robins join them how many all together?
If you feel you can have a go at making a healthy spider with ingredients you may have around. You can always share you creations on watsapp.
These are some they made last year using Oreo biscuits, strawberry laces and fruit. Don't feel yours has to look anything like this.

Wednesday day 3

To all my lovely parents.
I can just say you are all amazing!
I have not found this situation easy, being a parent myself also. Today, receiving some gorgeous photos of the children has put this into perspective.
Lots of messages flying round on Face Book but this sums it up:
There is no academic emergency this week, so don't be so quick to set up a home school. Our country is in crisis and we are all stressed and tired. Stressed adults can't teach stressed children. It is a neuro-Biological impossibility. Try focusing on connections and feelings of safety.
Having said that I love all your efforts at home. Its only day 3... your children will be fine; Every day they just need to read and be read to,write a sentence or two and find maths games to play including baking, Uno, Domino's, cards, snap, board games and playing with each other and with their toys..
So Wednesday (my day off you can have one to if you want).
Go noodle - Dance
Register those teddies! Count them, sort them into two different groups work out some number stories.
There are 6 teddies and 3 are playing outside how many are left? There are 2 teddies in the sand and 6 teddies in the home corner how many all together?
If available you can record these.
Phonics/Literacy/reading
No Ditty book today unless you wan to.
If you have the RWI cards now's the time to flash them.
Did the children make those red words from yesterday don't worry if not but if so now is the time to flash those too.
INFORMATION for writing.
Not sure this will work if you don't have power point but you can always look up spider facts.
Have a go at writing some spider facts in the green book and draw a spider. Here are some ideas they could write. Try to let them think first. Don,t worry too much about the spelling just help them to sound the simple ones out . They will be able to spell most of these words except for spider/eyes/spider-lings. Remind them of the ay sound for lay. Just write as many or little as you child is motivated for minimum 2.
A spider has 8 long legs.
A spider can spin a web.
A spider has 8 eyes.
A spider can lay lots of eggs.
A spider has lots of spider-lings.
I hope they will enjoy this task.
Have a break.
Maths - Continue with the number books or maths seeds and play games which incorporate hidden maths.

Just do as much or as little as you can every day.
If you want to go outside and construct a spider web that would be fun.
Keep smiling and please don't feel under any pressure. Most children are at a good level already.
