Warm up
Revise 2D shape names.
Play guess my shape and children will attempt to draw the shapes on a piece of paper: triangle, circle, square, rectangle, hexagon.
Make a snake from a spiral template and decorate it with a repeating pattern.

TOPIC
Dear Zoo - look at front cover – talk about the animal in the crates and the kind of animals you find in a zoo. Read the blurb and talk about the kind of animal they would like for a pet.
Read Dear Zoo again, encouraging the children to join in where they can. Can they remember they sequence of the characters?
Children each make a character from the story to add to large the story map using a tube as the body.
They then can make a person, to go round the zoo too from a peg like last week.
Talk about the different types of animals in the book.
Each bubble in school will take on a different classification of animals.

Learn about the wonderful worlds of bees on the power point.
Bee activity outside/inside (weather).
Make a flower for you bee to visit out of natural materials or recycled and then make a home for a bee using hexagon shapes made from stick (how many do you need?) or cut out paper or card.
How to make hexagons using sticks? How many sticks do we need to make a hexagon? Do they fit together?
This is called tessellation.
