admin on: Class 6

This week, the children have learnt about trade in geography. They looked at the exports and imports of Jamaica, before learning about Fair Trade and what that means. They had a lovely debate on this topic with some fantastic points being made.

Also this week, the children have been researching animals that are native to Jamaica, ready to write a report on one of them next week in English. In maths, the children have worked on finding percentages of numbers and reviewing ratio.

Another fantastic week in Year 6. The class are a joy to teach!

Have a lovely weekend!

15.12.23 Update

admin on: Class 6

This week, in DT, the children have been making bridges. This is in relation to their history topic about war, where many bridges in Europe were destroyed in WW2. As a result, many of them were rebuilt after the war and the children had a go at designing and making their own.

First, they had to measure out the wood.

Then, they had to saw their pieces of wood.

After that, the children glued the wood together to form cubes for the base of the bridge.

It started to resemble a bridge, eventually!

Then, the children began adding their own design for a truss on the top.

Then, they added the finishing touches by painting it.

Here are some finished results:
