DT - 14.12.21

admin on: Class 6

The children have spent lots of time on Friday, Monday and Tuesday designing, making and painting their bridges. I gave them a brief of designing a bridge to replace one that might've been damaged in World War 2. They came up with some great ideas and used saws and glue guns to help create their bridge.

Have a look at these pictures:

Here are the finished products!

26.11.21 Update

admin on: Class 6

This week, we have learnt about the lungs' role in the circulatory system. In history, we have looked at how the world entered the 'atomic age' after the nuclear bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We've looked at the Cold War and how nuclear superpowers have changed the way wars have been fought in the last 80 years.

Here are some photos of the children using the wall bars in PE to practise their counterbalance and counter-tension techniques.

Have a lovely weekend!

19.11.21 Update

This week, we have spent more time looking at World War 2 in history. We have looked at how victory in Europe occurred. Also, in PE, we have moved onto using apparatus to display counter balance and counter tension techniques. Here are some photographs:

We have also done some activities for Children in Need, Antibullying and Road Safety Awareness this week. The children experienced some mindfulness with Dr. Ranj for Children in Need. They made a poster on questions to ask yourself everyday to help being kind for antibullying. Finally, for road safety, we celebrated the road safety 'heroes' that keep us safe on the roads.

12.11.21 Update

This week, we have continued to look at the circulatory system in science. The children became blood cells and followed a journey through the circulatory system. Also, in PSHE, we looked at how different medicines can help people. In gymnastics, the children learnt about counter tension. Have a look at the photos of their counter tension stances below. Also, our house and vice captains were trained in organising inter-house sports competitions, so expect them to be arranging some of these in the near future!

Finally, at 11am yesterday, the school all met on the playground and fell silent for two minutes to mark Armistice Day. For the children of Year 6, this felt particularly poignant due to their history topic on war. Here is a photograph of the school marking the moment.

Finally, a reminder about Children in Need:

As you may have seen in the newsletter, we will be running a range of fun activities for the children during the week of the 15th November for Children in Need. If you are in a position to donate, we are asking this to be done online via this link. Please don't bring any money into school. Thank you!
