Homework this week.

admin on: Class 4

The homework this week is in response to something many of the children found difficult this week in maths - the division written method! It is very common for children in Year 4 to struggle to grasp this and it is indeed the hardest of the four operations. So with that in mind, I have given the children a selection of activities on IXL that they can try to help them understand division. If your child is finding division difficult, please have a go at some of the first five activities (please don't try to finish them all!). If your child has found division okay, then try the 6th activity.

IXL Maths:  I.1, I.2, I.3, I.4 and I.5. (For children struggling with division)    L.6 (for children who feel confident with division).

IXL English G.1 on prepositions.

Spellings:

Heavily

Merrily

Sleepily

Easily

Bicycle

Breath

Breathe

Build

Have a great weekend!

Egyptian Day

admin on: Class 4

We had a fantastic day yesterday celebrating all things Ancient Egyptian. Thank you so much for the effort made with the costumes, everyone looked great! We tried lots of different food, some more popular than others! We also embalmed a tomato which we will now wait 3 weeks to see the results. In the afternoon, we made our own hieroglyph bookmark before starting our Egyptian death masks.

Week 6 in Class 4

admin on: Class 4

This week in Class 4 we have imagined we were Howard Carter, discovering the tomb of King Tutankhamun. We have written diary entries which are coming along nicely! We have also learnt what it is like to be a predator and a prey in the very popular predator/prey game. The children have asked to play it as part of our daily exercise every day since Monday!

Also, I would like to thank the parents that visited Class 4 on Monday daytime as well as during the evening. It is always great to see parents visiting!

Don't forget it is Egyptian Day on Wednesday next week, so please send your child in costume on Wednesday, if you can. I will post some pictures for you next week. I sent an alert out earlier today about bringing in a cereal box next week, we will need it for our Egyptian death masks which we are creating.

The homework this week is:

English E.1 and E.2 on articles.

Maths H.8 and H.10 on multiplication.

The spellings are:

Angrily

Bossily

Breezily

Cheekily

Cosily

Heavily

Happily

Hastily

Thanks, as always for your support. Have a great weekend!

This week in Class 4.

admin on: Class 4

Happy Friday!

We have had a fantastic week in Class 4. We have written instructions on how to brush our teeth in science, learnt about the mummification process in history and had the chance to properly try out our brass instruments in music! Hopefully the children will be able to share what they have learnt in brass this week (sorry!!).

A note on photographs - I currently don't have a class ipod, so I am unable to take many photographs at the moment to share on the blog. Once I have sorted this out, I will upload some photographs of the antics we get up to in Year 4.

The homework this week is as follows:

1.) IXL Maths C.1 and C.2 on addition.

2.) IXL English D.1 and D.2 on verbs.

The spellings for this week are:

Adventure

Capture

Capturing

Mixture

Picture

Pictured

Puncture

Puncturing

I have uploaded these onto Spelling Shed which the children can log into through the login details in their planner. On Spelling Shed they can practice their spellings through a series of games. This IS NOT compulsory but may be an added incentive for the children to practise their spellings.

Have a great weekend!
