Homework 6th December 2019

admin on: Class 2

Apologies for the late blog, but I'm just catching up after the winter fair (plus two other winter fairs at my boys' schools!). Homework on Mathletics this week reflects our work in class - telling the time. Paper homework is a grammar task.

We are well into our rehearsals for Hey Ewe! and the children are doing a fantastic job, I'm so proud of them all. On our first performance - Tuesday 17th December, I will be leaving the KS1 team in charge as it is my littlest boy's nativity at Netherton Infants. I hope that you will all understand that it is really important for me to be there for this special moment and he really wants his mummy to be in the audience. Thank you for your understanding.

This week is very special as we have a fabulous pantomime in school on Tuesday morning - I'm sure this will be a real treat for everyone (oh yes it will!).

We will aim to change all the reading books as normal, but things are getting busy as we head towards Christmas, so please bear with us if you child's book doesn't get changed.

Homework 29th November 2019

admin on: Class 2

Well it's the weekend already for the children as it's 'INSECT' day tomorrow. I hope they enjoy an extra day of weekend at this busy time of year. We've been working hard on shape in maths, learning lots of new vocabulary like 'heptagon' and 'trapezium'. The Mathletics homework this week is based around shape. Paper homework is also maths but a bit of a puzzle that you can solve as a family.

We've also worked hard on our Hey Ewe songs and completed our first run-though. Please help your child to learn their lines if they have them.

Heads-up - in maths next week, we'll be beginning to tell the time, so perhaps you could have a go at looking at clocks at home and reading time to the half hour and quarter past/to.

Enjoy the three days!

Food journals

admin on: Class 2

26th November 2019

Today, children have been given a food journal to fill in. This is linked to our science topic of animals, including humans. We will then use this journal to look at our diets and see if they are balanced. If they could be returned by next Tuesday please. I will be filling one in too so let's see what we discover ...

Here is a link to the journal in case any get misplaced!

Homework 22nd November 2019

admin on: Class 2

We've had a great week, with rehearsals starting for the Christmas play. All children have brought home a little letter about their costume, but please do come and see us of you need any help with this. Children have also brought home a leaflet about the Scholastic book fair which starts a week on Monday. The children will be able to view the books next Wednesday. This is a great way to help our school keep our library well-stocked with all the latest titles because for every book you buy, we can get a book for school.

Thank you for all your Christmas Fayre donations so far, still plenty of time to bring in chocolate or bottles for the tombola.

Homework this week includes words with the 'ige' ending which we have looked at previously in school and Mathletics is all about word problems. Please can you support your child to complete these activities, last week we were Mathletics KS1 champions but this week Year 1 took the trophy! Let's see if we can regain it next week (I'm not competitive at all...)

Have an amazing weekend!

Homework 15/11/19

admin on: Class 2

Thank you to everyone who donated to Children In Need today. We had a great time completing some of the Joe Wicks workouts.

This week we have been working on our sentences using DADWAVERS to help us - why not ask your child what DADWAVERS stands for?

I've set some Mathletics homework of adding and subtracting this week, but I've encouraged the children to do as much as they can on Mathletics next week as it is the 'November Numeracy Challenge', where there are big prizes to be won. We will be competing with children all over the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Written homework is to write a book review as we so love sharing our books in Year 2!

Have a lovely weekend
