Hello everyone.
Yes were are still here no joke today.
Yesterday, after JO Wicks, I did 30 mins reading with Drew (my son) and then posted some photos to the blog page. I ventured to the shops, chose lunch time to avoid the queue but no luck. At least people are doing the right thing and queuing. We are all fine at my house, so far its just our cat Cobbles who's feeling a bit sore as she has been in a fight.
Here we go with today's activities.
Go noodle/Jo Wicks - This really helps me focus on the day.
Phonics/Reading/Writing

These last few will be new for some children. They might need to practise saying and writing the sound.
Read red words as yesterday
Here are the 2 set's of 'Green Words' which include the digraphs learnt to date. Just do 10 words at a time.
If you save the power points then you can refer to it regularly until the children can read and then are able to write the words fluently. It would be a good idea to mix the words up. Here are all of them don't be overwhelmed take it easy.
Set 1 should be familiar to your child they do get progressively harder. Your child eventually will be able to read all of the words if they practise.
Learning to read is a very individual process and happens at different times for children so please be patient with them. Have a go at sounding out (segmenting) about 5 to spell.
These are the ones we have been learning and some are not familiar with the children but just keep practising and putting them into a sentence.

Today we are looking at the Easter story. It's an important Christian Celebration and the one celebrated with the greatest of joy.
Starting on the 9th April Maundy Thursday, 10th Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Palm. Sunday. Below is an animated clip all about the story.
After watching it, you could discuss if the story is a sad or happy time or both?
How the characters ( Jesus, Mary and the disciples) were feeling throughout the story?
How did Jesus feel throughout the story?

The children could draw and annotate a picture of the Easter story in their own way. Can you remember the symbol that represent Jesus?

Ditty Book 'Get Writing'. Have another go at another page. You are doing really well with these from what I have seen.

Number work - you need a dice and a piece of paper
Look at symmetry in nature. Use the internet to research this.
Draw 6 butterflies/ladybirds outline shapes on an A4 spaced out.
Your child rolls a dice and places that number of spots on the wings/body of the butterfly/lady bird.
They then make it symmetrical by adding the correct amount of dots on the other side. How many spots do you need to make it symmetrical?
This can now be used for doubling questions.
There are 3 spots and we need 3 more to make it symmetrical.
How many spots all together? They could even write the number sentences to go with the doubling underneath.
3+3=6 2+2=4 5+5=10 underneath each drawing representing it.
Extension:Look at the end total number is it odd or even? Why?

You can make your buns today to decorate as flowers or chocolate nests.
If you are cooking with eggs look at the egg before it is cooked.
The white and the yolk. Eggs are a good source of protein, great for muscle growth and the yolk contains iron which is needed to keep your blood healthy. What happens to the egg when the it is cooked?

Fresh air and walking is always good for the immune system. We usually have a Forest School session now in the afternoon so you can always to out to the woods or on a walk and see if you can spot some natural patterns of symmetry. Your child could take a picture of it using their IT skill. Doing rubbings with wax crayons is also a fun activity.

Happy 'April Fools' day!

Today we are going to look at the ck sound and write about chicks.

Draw a chick in your green books and write a few sentences about what you remember about the chick. Try and use the word and to join two simple sentences together. Start with the simple sentences and then try a longer one. It is hard for the children to 'HOLD' longer sentences in their heads so you can clap the sentence whisper the sentence shout the sentence. We do this in school so they will understand.
e.g The chick is small and yellow.
A hen lays the eggs and sits on them for 14 days..
The chick pecks the egg and comes out of the shell.

Number work is patterns. Count from 1-20 and down again.
Can the children see any pattern in the 100 sqaure?
Practise writing numbers in a pattern; 1 2 1 2 1 2 . 4 5 5 6 4 5 5 6. 876 876 876
Can your grown-ups guess the pattern?
You can also clap rhythm pattern using hand or sticks found in the garden or in the woods.
Start with full names and then or onto animals, favourite food etc;

Craft Activities - Can you make a nest in the garden with little sticks. You might be able to find something you can use for eggs and add a hen and chicks?

Good morning!
Well this is the second time I have written this today as I accidentally deleted the other one!
I hope every one is getting into the new daily routine.
I keep telling my children at home, this is not a holiday so lets do some home learning before you have a break.
It is important that your child still feels connected to their class or relatives.
Here are some good ideas I have seen form other children: writing letter, drawing a pictures and then electronically sending them.
I tried the Jo Wicks P.E 9 am yesterday in school but I don't think those twist with the sword were good for my back so I will stick to the 'Go Noodle'

Register, day,date, month and weather. I saw a lovely weather chart today from an email i received which I will share later in the week.

Can you tell the grown-up what all the parts of the plant are for?
If are able, you might like to grow some cress seeds.

Maths - You can look for patterns in nature out-side, pattern in the curtains bedding and clothes you are wearing. Look at photo graphs of insect (butterflies), leaves petal plants. There is a lot of symmetry and patterns in nature. If you have a small mirror you could experiment with looking at the symmetry of a leaf or flower.
You may want to do a page in you number books today.(you can order more of these on Amazon £3 each)
Craft- Easter craft ideas
Tomorrow we are looking at eggs and chicks, so I might be nice to make some buns tomorrow using eggs so you can decorate them like a flower?
If you still need an extra Challenge you could write a Spring poem in you books or on special paper and decorate it. Here are some ideas.
You can always keep adding to it as you think of more things.
