Buongiorno tutti,

Why don't crabs give money to charity?
Because they are shellfish.

So, back to it today...

Exercise:  remember Joe Wicks? Who is still do doing it? If not, what are you doing instead?

Amy and her dog are planking!

Reading:  30 minutes at least please.

This is Harry, with Olivia at Easter Gate Bridge, in Marsden. He is reading, 'Slime' by David Walliams!

"At the start of the story it  introduces the characters in the story the moves on to the prologue and then chapter 1. Ned, an 11 year old boy with an annoying sister who loves to play tricks on her brother. They both live on the Island of Mulch and like going fishing to try and find shoe-fish! That’s really all I’ve got up to but so far I would recommend it!"

Maths:  Here are some really interesting challenges - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z489d6f

Topic:  Now we are in the final seven weeks of your primary school experience, I would like you to begin thinking back about the whole adventure. Today, I want you to concentrate on Key Stage 1. Start at the beginning with Reception. Can you remember the first day? Who was your first friend? What was day one like? Were you scared? Excited? Can you remember the first whole school assembly? Write a short report - this can be in bullet-points, if you want. List the teachers in KS1, the trips you went on, the memories that stand out. Speak to your parents - what do they remember? Are there any particularly funny moments that you would like to share with everyone else? You can email me these in writing, or as photos. If you want them kept anonymous, tell me.

I got hit in the head with a can of Diet Coke yesterday. Don't worry, I wasn't hurt - it was a soft drink.

Have a lovely day. Keep smiling.

Monday 1st June

admin on: Class 6

Good Morning all!

It's June! Already...

I've started fishing - on an app (this isn't a joke) - and I'm really enjoying it. It's called Fishing Clash 2020 and it's free (as long as you aren't tempted by their 'offers'). Along with Duolingo - I'm on day 272 now - and my geography quiz apps, it's part of my daily routine.

Last week was Mrs C's big birthday - so we had a little party here, with lots of videos from friends and family. We had food delivered and flowers and a cake and had a fantastic day in the sun. I hope you all got some time to have fun.

Anyway, today is an inset day, so it seems a little unfair to give you a day of work, when you would have been at home anyway, enjoying the sunshine.

I'd like you to make sure you do some reading today - ideally outdoors (with sunscreen) and I'd like you to send me a photo as evidence. Tomorrow I will post all the photos. Please can you let me know the title of your book, the author, a short summary of the story so far - no spoilers and whether you recommend it or not.

Make sure you get exercise of some form or another - I'm just about to walk on to school.

Have a lovely day - back to daily tasks tomorrow!

I could tell you about a girl I know, who only eats plants... but you've probably never heard of herbivore.

Sorry... I'll brush up on my humour.

Remote Learning Friday 22nd May 2020

admin on: Class 6

Good morning you to everyone! You have done it, survived a full half term of home learning!

What another beautiful day we had yesterday with the weather, I do hope it continues next week! My partner, James, was getting a little fed up and lonely at our house on his own so bought the Old Trafford football ground to build. We thought it would take him a couple of weeks but it only took him a couple of days, so as an early birthday present, I decided to get him some second-hand Lego from Ebay. He has now constructed Tower Bridge, he even had to construct the little red bus and yellow taxi! It took him four days in total, he would have finished it sooner but decided to spread the experience of building it out! Here are the masterpieces …

Who joined in the World Record breaking art lesson yesterday? I know I did and loved it!

Here are the drawings that Georige, Oliver, his Mum, Mrs Barker, my Mum, Grandma and me all drew!

What have you been constructing at home? Let me know!

So, on to today:

Reading: the usual 30 minutes, at least, please.

Science:

We are still looking at the topic of Living things and their habitats, focusing on field guides.

A field guide is a book designed to help the reader identify the living things that can be found in a particular habitat. Imagine that you have been asked to use your knowledge of classifying living things to create a field guide for the habitat around your home. You will have to explore the habitat, identify the organisms that you find and then classify each organism to create your field guide.

Carefully search the areas outside your home. You should look for plants and animals. Remember, it is important that you do not touch or eat any of the organisms you find. It could be very dangerous!

If you find more than one example of a species, you do not need to record it more than once. For example, you might find lots of dandelions, but you should only record 'dandelion' once. Here are two identification sheet which could be of use to you for plants and animals. You should record your findings on a table similar to this:

Now that you have identified some of the organisms that live in the habitat around your home, it is time to create your field guide.

Use the field guide template to create your book. You will need to decide how each living thing is classified, and list it in the correct place in the field guide. You may also wish to add a picture of each organism.

Include a description of each group of living things, including information about their characteristics.

Here is the field guide template for you to use. Happy hunting!

Computing:

Have you written on our Padlet yet? It is looking amazing! Please do keep adding to it as it is making me and everyone else smile! Already written on it? Please add more as you will always make someone smile!

Our Wall of Smiles - Padlet

Here is what it looks like so far …

DT:

We are going to be cooking dishes from around the world. Please do not feel like you have to purchase the ingredients especially, adapt the recipes to what you have at home. Today we are in Mexico, looking at traditional Mexican food …

Here are the recipes for guacamole, salsa and quesadillas. When preparing think about the different techniques to use. Cut the tomato in half and then quarters using ‘The Bridge’ technique.

Use ‘The Claw’ technique to help you dice the tomato.

Good luck and let us know how you get on! Write a review of the food that you make and any recommendations!

Have a lovely weekend, half term and remember to stay safe!

Holidays!

admin on: Class 6

Evening all,

Before I hand over to Miss H for your Friday fun, I just thought I'd take a moment to wish you happy holidays for next week. It looks like it's going to be beautiful weather, so enjoy yourselves.

How do you find Will Smith in the snow?
Follow the fresh prints (sorry, that hasn't been culturally relevant for a while).

Why did Snoop Dogg need an umbrella?
Fo' drizzle (that's closer).

Finally... I own the world's worst thesaurus... Not only is it terrible, it's terrible!

Stay safe and keep applying sun screen.
