Week Ending Friday 19th November

Posted: Nov 19, 2021 by: Martin Clayton (MClayton) on: Class 5

The end of another busy week in class 5.

English has seen us in the midst of a newspaper report on the impact of a storm on Odysseus's journey - specifically the Sack of Winds.

In maths, we have been challenged by trying to find the decimal and fraction versions of remainder in division. We have also been working with prime numbers and prime factors.

Times tables continues to be a focus with most of the class REALLY progressing.

We have been looking at maps in geography and working out routes from Leeds to Athens - in particular trying to find the quickest and cheapest options.

Kirklees pedestrian trainers visited on Wednesday and did training in and outside class, to ensure that our children are all safe in the narrow, car-filled roads of Netherthong.

In science, we continued to investigate forces, with the class getting into groups and coming up with their own experiments on friction.

It wasn't all practical, pushing cars down ramps - we all had to make and log predictions, collect data and record our conclusions.

Have a fun-filled and safe weekend,

Mr C, Mrs J, Mrs M, Mrs P and Miss M.
