Morning Class 5! Because yesterday was an Inset Day, some of you may have not got around to doing the work I set. That is okay, it is still available further down this blog for you to do if you wish.

Here are the answers to yesterday's daily questions:

1.) Where is the article? An article is a type of determiner remember.             I tried to grab the tennis ball, but I slipped.

2.) Where is the adverb?   We need to move cautiously if we are to succeed.

3.) Where is the modal verb?   I should tidy up before I go home.

4.) Where is the adverb that shows possibility?       You have definitely impressed me!

5.) Add the comma.        The car was blue, but it looked green in the moonlight.

6.) Where would you have to include brackets to show parenthesis?     Space X (owned by Elon Musk) launched two astronauts into orbit on Saturday.

7.) Where is the main clause?   Despite being off school for ten weeks, she has still managed to remember all her times tables.

8.) Fill in the missing word.    A determiner introduces a noun or a noun phrase.

1.) 683 X 34    23,222

2.) 5494 metres is how many kilometres?   5.494km

3.) A class is going on a school trip. There are 32 children and 2 adults. Each mini bus can carry 5 people. How many mini buses will the class need to take all the children and adults on the trip?  You will need 7 mini buses. Even though 34 divided by 5 is 6 remainder 4, you can't leave 4 people behind!

4.) 5 and 4/5 X 8   46 and 2/5

5.) 1/3 + 5/6            Give your answer as a mixed number.    1/3 is the same as 2/6          2/6 + 5/6 = 7/6 which is 1 and 1/6

6.) 3/3 as a percentage.    Any fraction where the denominator is the same as the numerator, the fraction is 'full' and it is 100%.

7.) 0.56 + 0.327      0.887

8.) Which digit is in the hundredths column?     32.789

9.) 5 cubed minus 6 squared.    5 cubed is 125        6 squared is 36        125 - 36 = 89

10.)  What is the next number in the sequence?        356,    35.6,      3.56,       ?    0.356

Yesterday, many of you answered the questions I asked you in note form about how to survive Year 5. As some of you may have not done this yet, I have copied the questions again below. If you did this yesterday, your task today is to make additional notes about anything else you think Year 4 will need to help them survive Year 5.

Topic

Our topic this half is We Are Britain and it all about the Kings and Queens of England and later, the United Kingdom. It is a history topic designed to help you connect between different times periods in British history. We will also be learning more about British values and what that means.

Your first task is to create a Top Trumps cards for these kings and queens. Each Top Trump card needs to have the following information on it:

Name:

Date of birth and death:

Dates they were monarch between:

Number of marriages:

Age lived to:

Amount of years as ruler:

You will need to print or draw a picture of them as well.

Here are the kings and queens you will need to research:

William I (William the Conqueror)

Richard III

Henry VIII

Elizabeth I

Victoria

George VI

Here is a Top Trumps template if you need it. You can of course, design and draw one yourself.

PE

Keep me updated with any new activities you have been doing. It was great to see Fred pictured at the top of Holme Moss after cycling up!

I've noticed Joe Wicks has made his workouts tough in the last couple of weeks! He does extra activities at the end for those who want to go that extra mile!
