Year 3 Blog

In Literacy this week we watched a clip from the 1970s program Jamie and the Magic Torch. We looked at the image first and watch the introduction.  We then wrote a new adventure for Jamie and Wordsworth. We then watched the program and we thought it was great. Everyone had different ideas about where Jamie could be with his dog Wordsworth. He went to different islands, met giants and ate chocolate.

In Maths this week we have investigated different kinds of problems looking at measurement, adding, subtracting, division and multiplication. Some of the problems have been very challenging.

Science has been very exciting this week as we have investigated how magnets work to pull the forces of different metals. We drew race tracks for cars and used magnets to move the cars along. We used plastic cups, wool, a paper clip to create an environment for crystals to grow. We poured boiling water into the cups with salt to mix a solution called sodium chloride which could react with the metal of the paper clip to form crystals.

In PE we practised for our sports day, we learnt how to throw the javelin and shot put safely. We took part in an obstacle race and the relay. It was great fun! We hope the real sports day will be just as fun!

We have been learning some new tunes in music and playing them with our recorders. Gypsy Dance, Old MacDonald and Hot Cross Buns, we are very proud of our orchestra.

Our favourite dinner this week has been Mac and Cheese!

We hope to see you at the school fayre tomorrow.
