Home learning Wednesday 10th June

Posted: Jun 9, 2020 by: Elaine Matthews (EMatthews) on: Class 3

Hello again everyone!

Let's begin with a lovely photo Grace and her Mum sent yesterday;

Here's Grace enjoying her maths! Well done Grace!

Wednesday's activities;

French

We have learnt lots of colours and the names of animals in French. Here are some examples;

bleu.....blue

rouge....red

rose.....pink

noir....black

gris....grey

jaune....yellow

vert.....green

cochon......pig

tortue....tortoise

chien....dog

chat....cat

souris....mouse

serpent....snake

Today, I would like you to write 6 sentences; giving your opinion on a colour or an animal;

eg J'adore les chiens....................I like dogs.

J'adore les tortues.............I like tortoises.

Je deteste le gris..........I don't like the colour grey

Have a go yourself, using 'J'adore...' or 'Je deteste...'

Notice the 'le' or 'les' that you need to use ('le' before the colour or 'les' before the animals).

Maths;

8 questions

Here are some times tables AND some x10, x100 etc. What happens to the zeros as the digits move along the column?!

  1. 6 x 4
  2. 8 x 3
  3. 28 x 10
  4. 54 x 100
  5. 560 divided by 10
  6. 900 divided by 100
  7. 47 x 100
  8. 320 x 10

Problem; 32 bags of oranges arrived in school today with 10 in each bag. Also 5 bags of apples with 7 in each came too. How much fruit arrived altogether?

Today I'd like you to create your own frequency chart; it could be about favourite fruits, pets or board games, for example, it's up to you. You would need to ask lots of family and friends. Here's an example;

Literacy;

Yesterday you shared an information text with Mum or Dad (Coronavirus; A Book for Children).

Today I'd really like you to create an information leaflet all about Coronavirus. In years to come other people may not know everything we have learnt about it. As it's a non-fiction text, you will need a heading and then sub-headings and will be writing paragraphs of information. Have fun and make it as interesting and as colourful as you can. You can create it by hand or use my 2Do on Purple Mash if you prefer.

Reading;

Make sure you read aloud to an adult again; you could finish the Purple Mash reading you were doing yesterday if you like.

Geography;

There is no rush to complete this today as I know I have asked lots of you today but here's something I'd like you to be doing when you can (sometime before next week).

We are going to be comparing Holmfirth to other places in the UK. This week I'd like you to use 'google maps' to have a look at a place called 'Mousehole' in Cornwall. Have a good look around! You could also search on the internet with an adult to find images of Mousehole as well as images of Holmfirth and print them out or save them in a document. Can you see any differences in the landscape?

Have lots of fun and enjoy your day!

I miss you all lots! Here's a big virtual whole class hug!!

See you soon,

Mrs Matthews
