Good morning to you all!

What another glorious if not a little chilly day we had yesterday! I feel we are very lucky at the moment having better weather. I decided to do some baking yesterday for some key workers. I made a Battenberg cake, what do you think?

Have you been doing any baking or cooking?

Here is the suggested timetable for today:

E.R.I.C. - Everybody Reading in Class for 20 mins (remember to record your reading in your planners)

Active time - Joe Wicks guided PE lesson at 9am

(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ)

Maths/Literacy - do this in batches of 20 mins each, build in breaks.

Break – Can you make a tower that is taller than the tallest person in your house? What will you use?

Computing/PSHE

Maths;

Try 'Timestables Rockstars' this morning if you like (or practise the 3x and 4x tables). You'll find it less tricky as we've changed the settings to ensure only the timestables we've been working on are included. If it's too tricky, don't worry, keep practising!

8 questions;

  1. 673 + 46
  2. 473 - 32
  3. 829 + 158
  4. 878 - 578
  5. 1/4 of 12 (remember to divide by the 4)!!
  6. How many mm in 8cm?
  7. 1L 400g + 1L 320g
  8. How many pairs of parallel lines in a rhombus?

Activity

Literacy;

Time for some creative writing!

Read the following extract:

It was late evening, almost dark. “I think I left my ball in the playground. Let’s just go and get it before we go home,” said Tom to Suraj. They squeezed through the gap in the fence into the playground. It was a great safe place to kick a football round without people complaining about it hitting their cars. “What on earth is that!” exclaimed Suraj. A bright green light filled the sky just above the playground and it seemed to be dropping down in front of them. “Flying saucer! It’s a flying saucer!” gasped Tom.

Your task over the next couple of days is to continue the story, explaining what happens when the flying saucer lands …

Today, I would like you to plan your story. Think about the opening sentence, what happens next and how the story ends. Here is a planning sheet as an example.

Computing/PSHE;

On PurpleMash, can you make a virtual card for Mrs Matthews. Can you write a lovely message or poem for her? I have set a card template as a 2Do for you! I will make sure she gets a copy of these, here is mine I have done …

Music;

Here is something fun for you do to, learn the lyrics to your favourite song. This could be a current song or one you just love! Rehearse these then, put on a show for everyone in your house. Can you get anyone else involved? One of my favourite songs is Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves so I will be giving my mum and Grandma a lovely rendition of this, wish me luck!!

Here is the Lego challenge for today! Remember to email us your creations! If you don't have Lego, don't worry any construction material will do …

Have a lovely day and try to enjoy every moment!

Miss H
