Kindness, sharing, playfulness, having a laugh and smiling  were some of the qualities we thought of as a class.

Gingerbread man day

admin on: Reception

15th January 2020

Today we have carried on looking at the traditional tale of The Gingerbread Man. We conducted some science experiments with ginger and some gingerbread men. We planted some ginger in soil and sand to see if it will grow into a flower. Keep looking at our windowsill to see the progress. Also, we used gingerbread men to test which liquids out of vinegar, oil, water and juice, would dissolve the man the quickest. We found that oil was the best and the other three dissolved the man completely. To finish, we created 'gingerbread men' out of different fruits and then ate them! In maths is week we are looking at teen numbers both recognising them and counting with them. Please could you carry on doing this with your children at home.

Keep counting!

Australia Crisis

admin on: Reception

14th January 2020

Both children and staff are very aware of what has been happening in Australia concerning the bushfires. The School Government have come up with a fundraising idea to raise money to help all the animals that have been burned or injured. The WWF-Australia say that it has been estimated that around 1.25 billion animals have been killed across Australia to date. This includes thousands of koalas and other iconic species such as kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos and honeyeaters burnt alive, and many thousands more injured and homeless. For more information visit https://www.wwf.org.au/get-involved/bushfire-emergency#gs.rrws96.

As a school, we are planning to walk the equivalent of the distance from Sydney to Canberra, which is 288 km or as close to this as possible across next week. We will be collecting donations on Friday 24th where we will see if we can fill an outline of Australia.

We really would appreciate the support and keep your eyes peeled for updates on our school blog.

Thank you,

The School Government

Spring 1 week 1

Happy New Year!

Thank-you for the gifts we received at Christmas its was very kind of you.

We made it to the end of the first week and have all settled back into the routine; teachers included.

I hope you all got the Curriculum letter and noticed its Traditional Tales this term. If you have any books at home with this theme we would love to read them in school.

Please fine a Schofield Sims number book in your child's bag. Have fun with this do this practically with your child if the don't understand the concepts.

Putting numbers 8 3  6 in order will only make sense if your child can see the different values in their head first. You could get out objects to represent these numbers so your child can see clearly each value.

A number/phonics workshop will take place on Monday 20th January 3-3-30 pm.

Keep you the reading.

Thank-you for your support at home.
