Week ending Friday 26th November

Posted: Nov 26, 2021 by: Martin Clayton (MClayton) on: Class 5

Lots of data handling this week - line graphs, tables and timetables. If the children want to catch a bus to college or (more importantly) a train to a festival in the coming years, they'll need to know what time they need to be at the station/bus stop. Most of the class will make their first lessons and they'll certainly make the headline act!

We have completed the news reports on the huge storm outside Ithaca, that blew Odysseus off track and ended the week writing non-chronological reports on the island of Ithaca as part of the topic.

Science - forces - involved a fun activity with Mrs Pearce, testing buoyancy and discussing water resistance. Would the little paper-clip person survive?

In forest skills, the children have been using palm drills and peelers to make Xmas decorations, as well as den building and leaf cleaning.

We have talked around resilience this week; this has helped with our problem solving in maths and general independence factors, as we are negotiating upper key stage 2. On a daily basis children are cycling around jobs at lunchtime and some are successfully being play leaders in the playground - this is a great stepping stone for the prefect roles next year!

We are enjoying the handball in PE and negotiating the flight topic in gymnastics, incorporating different jump combinations.

Also - we got a letter back from Sir Tim Peake! And he sent us a signed photo!

Oh and we won back the Mathletics trophy! Now let's try and keep it up until Xmas!

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Mr C, Mrs J, Mrs P, Miss M and Mrs M
