Tuesday 30th June - Mr C

Posted: Jun 29, 2020 by: Martin Clayton (MClayton) on: Class 5

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all ok and aren't getting too wet.

What did Yoda say, when he saw himself in 4K?
HDMI.

I'm happy with that one.

Thanks once again to all of you for the work that came in last week. Take a look:

 James

Isla

Madison

Mason

A variety of musical tastes there...

Libby did a walk, then a run -

Fred tried to increase AND decrease his number of steps; well done!

Madison, as usual, put loads of work in, despite the heat -

And Mason made sure I know who the rock god is, in Y5 -

Toby's dad contributed a 'joke' to try and compete - here it is:
What do you get when you cross a pig and a dinosaur?
Jurassic pork.
Well done, Mr Stead. It must have been our teachers at King James's that turned us into these joke machines.

So... first task - I've asked year 6 to try and come up with a joke based on the following format:
For Sale: ...

Here are two examples - For Sale: Packet of Polos, unopened. Mint condition
For Sale: Midwife. Can deliver.

Mr Kershaw has got in on the act and contributed this:
For Sale: Discarded Litter. Pick up required.

Speak with your parents, grandparents, anyone you know who has a funny bone. I look forward to the responses.

Next task - I would like you to send me a photo of one of your pets (if you have one) AND a drawing of that photo. If you don't have a pet, go online and google your favourite animal and cut and paste a photo of that.

Once you have drawn the photo, I would like a short diary from this animal/pet, giving their thoughts and feelings about what has been going on during the lockdown. Perhaps they are loving the extra attention, maybe they just wish you would leave them alone? Try to capture their personality and their voice. Maybe they have an accent? Do they speak in slang? I always think that cats are quite posh and dismissive, whereas dogs are just, well... dogs? Perhaps I'm wrong... maybe you have an intellectual dog, who likes to read, when you've all gone to bed, or he/she plays chess against a friend on ZOOM?

I can't wait to see what you do with this. Be creative.

Finally - some maths; Place Value.
Have a go at these and I will post the answers before the end of the week.

Right, I'm off.
I hope you are all happy and well.

Take care - Mr C
