Welcome to Class 5

Welcome back! It's been a great first week in Class 5 and we've been able to hit the ground running quickly, considering we all know each other!
As I mentioned in my curriculum letter, spellings this year will be in a 2 week cycle where we test the children twice on the same words. This gives them the opportunity to really solidify those spellings in their minds and ensure they are spelling them correctly in their writing as well.
The spellings this week follow the 'silent b' rule and are:
Thumb, crumb, doubt, climb, tomb, numb, debt, comb.
The first test on these words will be on Friday 13th September.
The homework for maths this week will be on our new homework system: Mathletics. This week there are three tasks on place value. The great thing about Mathletics is that when the children log on, it will automatically take them to the homework tasks. The children's login for Mathletics is in their planner. There are hints and tips to help the children complete their homework if they are stuck.
