Well, I just spent ages creating this blog, and it has deleted itself, despite me saving the draft! How annoying!
First of all, thank you to everyone who is sending me work, and keeping in touch. There are still a couple of you who haven't contacted me at all since we began working from home; I would love to hear from you! I would love to hear from everyone else as well!
Here are the answers to the daily questions:
1.) What does a pronoun do? It replaces a noun.
2.) Where is the preposition? The car raced across the finish line.
3.) How many pronouns? We took it to show the teacher. 2 (we and it)
4.) Punctuate this sentence: The people of Manchester were proud of their team.
5.) Add a pair of dashes: Angus - born in 1976 - is a famous artist.
6.) Why is a comma used? Although it is a sunny day, there is a strong wind. The sentence starts with a fronted subordinate clause, so a comma will be needed at the end of this.
7.) Where is the possessive pronoun? That might be mine.
8.) Where is the coordinating conjunction? I fell over, so I will need a plaster.
1.) 231 X 45 10,395
2.) 5035 divided by 9 559 remainder 4
3.) 6.732 - 3.698 3.034
4.) 50% of 24 12
5.) 25/100 + 25% = Give your answer as a fraction. 25% is the same as 25/100 so it is 25/100 + 25/100 = 50/100 or 1/2 (or any equivalent fraction).
6.) How much change will I get from £10 if I buy a packet of crisps worth £0.56 and a cupcake worth £1.02 £8.42
7.) What is 5,678 grams in kilograms? 5.678kg
8.) An acute angle is always less than how many degrees? Remember the rhyme 'it's cute and tiny and less than ninety'. So the answer is less than 90.
9.) 2 and 3/4 X 7 19 and 1/4
10.) 5 and 3/4 as an improper fraction. 23/4

In English, we are kind of doing poetry... I guess?
For your country, I would like you to write a national anthem. A national anthem is a song which celebrates a country's history and people. Although it is a song, I would just like you to write it as a poem (you can add music to it if you like!).
The UK national anthem is below. As you can see, this one celebrates the Queen. With that in mind, you need to first think of a leader for your country. Is it you? Are you a king/queen? Is it someone else? Your mum? Dad?
Here is the first verse of the national anthem of the United Kingdom. There are other verses too, so if you wanted to research that, you may.
God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the Queen!
You can also get inspiration from other national anthems. The US national anthem celebrates its flag and a great naval battle that happened, so you may want to make reference to the flag you made yesterday in your national anthem. Also, you could think about one of your favourite memories in your house/garden and refer to that in the poem. Here is the US national anthem:
By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed
At the twilight's last gleaming?
Through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
Were so gallantly streaming?
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there.
Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?
