Remote Learning Thursday 7th May 2020

Well what a short week we have had this week! Today, I got an envelope through the post … It was a mystery to what was in it or who had sent it but I did recognise the writing on the front it was from my sister. Inside was the loveliest little present. Here is what she had sent me …

It brought tears to my eyes as this has been the longest time we have spent without properly seeing each other! I video called her to thank her and felt better for seeing her! Little, thoughtful things like these can make a huge difference to people! Maybe you could make something for someone special and give it to them, just something simple to let them know you are thinking of them!

Here's the suggested timetable for today:

E.R.I.C. - Everybody Reading in Class for 20mins (remember to record your reading in your reading record)

Active time - Joe Wicks is showing a PE lesson at 9am (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ)

Don’t forget GoNoodle:

Although animals are all different, they all need the same things to survive. What are those important things that all animals, including humans, need to survive? Research these and make a nice poster to explain this. Hint: there are only three elements. Try this website for help …

Next, I would like you to complete this sheet, filling in the boxes with the information that you have found. Here is an image of the work:

VE Day tomorrow is all about remembering and celebrating what happened at this important historical event. I would like you to write down some memories and happy times that you can remember. This can be recent or past memories. Can you talk to anyone in your house and ask them what their favourite memories and happy times have been? Are they similar to yours? Here is a way that you could display your ideas

How did you get on developing your coordination and balance last week? This week we are going to look at your control when hitting the ball.

Make sure you are holding the racquet correctly, dominant hand near the bottom of the handle, firm grip with fingers wrapped around the handle. When we are hitting the ball, we need to make sure you are sideways on, swing the racquet from back to front. When you swing the racquet, it goes from racquet knee height up to chest height. You must make sure you move your feet to get next to the ball.

Next, feed the ball up for yourself and try to hit it gently forwards, thinking about the correct technique. Then, throw the ball up into the air and allow to bounce once before hitting it.

Ask someone to feed to ball to you using an underarm throw, making sure it bounces before it gets to you then return it to them. Fancy something a little trickier? Try aiming the ball when you hit it into something like a hoop.

If you don’t have the facilities to do tennis at home, you could always use your hand as a racquet.

Computing

On Purplemash, we are going to carry on looking at coding. A bug is a problem in a computer program that stops it working the way it was designed. Debug/Debugging is where you look for any problems in the code, fix and test them.

I have set the Debug challenge: chimp as your first task. There are videos at the start of each challenge which explains each task. If you click the hint button, it will show you how to code each object. Any problem, just let me know. I have also set Fun with fish and Bubbles as tasks so you can apply your new knowledge of debugging. Good luck!

Here is the Lego challenge for today! Remember to email me your creations! If you don’t have Lego, don’t worry any construction material will do …

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the sunshine and stay safe!
