Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are all well. My legs are aching today as I thought it would be a good idea to run back home from school yesterday! It was a total of 6.5km – so good training for next week’s Race for Life. How are your plans going for the event? Thank you for all your sponsorship donations so far, we are now at £600, which is amazing.

So the suggested schedule for today is as follows...

E.R.I.C. - Everybody Reading in Class for 20 mins

Active time - Joe Wicks is showing a PE lesson at 9am or Go Noodle

Maths/Literacy - do this in batches of 20 mins each, build in breaks.

Maths

LO: Missing numbers

  • 23 + 59 =
  • 78 – 40 =
  • £1 - 35p =
  • 30 ÷ 5 =
  • Write fourteen in digits.
  • Partition 136 into 100s, 10s and 1s

Can you remember what the fancy maths word for opposite is? Click here the see if you were right. You’ll need to think about opposites today. It’s really important to know your fact families. Once you know one fact, you actually many others, take a look…

If 12 + 7 = 19, then 7 + 12 = 19

And 19 – 7 = 12 and 19 - 12 = 7

We’ve been really good at these in class. I’ve found this online fact family game you can play here:

Once you’ve done some work on this game, you should be able to use these skills to work out missing number problems. I found this lovely poem to help you remember what to do…

Have a go at these missing number problems, remember the poem – it will help you!

English

Did you enjoy doing the Litz Blitz from yesterday? Well here’s one more…

1) What type of word is underlined:

Quickly, Mrs Barker ran around the playground.

2) Write in the 4 missing capital letters:

next tuesday is our race for life day.

3) Spot the spelling mistake:

because      could      frend

4) Fill in the missing word:

Simon  has _________ the cake.

5) Make the contraction for 'has not'.

I hope you enjoyed reading the Mousehole Cat story and looking at the wonderful pictures. Can you retell the story to your adult – just talk the story, don’t write anything down. Can you retell it without too many ‘erms’ and ‘ers’, It’s not easy to do that! Challenge your adult to retell the story too, if you need to look back at the story just go to Monday and Tuesday’s blogs. If you can talk the story, you can draw the story…

Today, I would like you to create your own Mousehole Cat story map using pictures and some words, if you wish. We did this activity when we wrote our Katie Morag stories. You can use the story board template here or just use a plain piece of paper and layout your story as you wish. You can use stickmen pictures if you like or as much detail as you want. When you have completed your story map, you should be able to ‘read’ it as if it’s a written story!

Why Do People Pray? This is the question we’ve been thinking about over the last few weeks. Many people, who believe in God, pray because God wants them to tell Him what is on their minds. Even though Christians believe that He sees and understands our situations better than we do, He still wants to hear from us in our own words.

There are five sorts of prayer.

  1. Praise. We praise God when we tell him how wonderful He is.
  2. Thanksgiving, or telling God, "thank you". We thank God for all the wonderful things He does for us. He gives us life; He gives us food, clothing and shelter; He gives us good people in our lives to help us and to take care of us.
  3. Telling God that we are sorry for what we have done. We tell God we are sorry either when we have hurt one of the people God has created or when we have done some sort of damage to God's beautiful creation. We tell God what we have done and that we are sorry that we did it.
  4. Asking for help. We ask God to keep us safe, to give us courage in tough times, or to give us the things we need to be strong and healthy. God always wants to hear from us when we are afraid or in trouble and need help.
  5. Asking God to care for another person or part of his creation.

Jesus taught His followers how to pray. He thought it was important to talk to God. Do you know about the special prayer that Christians have? It is called the Lord’s Prayer. Here is it – read it with your adult and discuss what you understand about it:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be your name

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done

On Earth as in heaven

Give us today our daily bread

Forgive us our sins

As we forgive those who sin against us

Lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil.

For the Kingdom, the power and the Glory are Yours,

Now and forever,

Amen.

So enjoy today, Miss H will be back on the blog tomorrow and then on Friday, I’ll be doing a V.E. Day special blog.

Take care!

Mrs B
