Remembrance Day

12th November 2021

On Thursday the whole school came together and stood in the playground, in their classes, to take part in the 2 minutes silence. During this time, we remembered all of the people and animals who we have lost and those who are still helping to keep us safe. We are incredibly proud of how all of the children conducted themselves.

This week in Science, we've continued our work on animals. We looked at a number of animals including the amazing glass frog, the red-bellied piranha and the peacock.  We've been talking about how we can group animals by their features and discussed how some animals are grouped under the title mammals, others under reptiles, or amphibians, or birds or fish. We'll continue with this work over the coming weeks. Its also helped us with our geography as weve been looking at where in the world these animals are often found.

We started our design and technology topic this week. We are going to be creating a Christmas card using a mechanism of our choosing. Over the next few weeks we are going to be exploring different sliders and levers. This week, we discovered how to make a slider and after we made our beautiful pictures, we told stories using them!

During computing session, we have been maze explorers! We have been moving characters around the screen using different functions while developing our fine motor skills on laptops.

As you may have seen in the newsletter, we will be running a range of fun activities for the children during the week of the 15th November for Children in Need. If you are in a position to donate, we are asking this to be done online via this link. Please don't bring any money into school. Thank you!
