‘are’ sound!

Use the link above to view the Set 3 video published at 9.30 each day. Join in with the phonics learning and then at the end see how many words you can write down containing the ‘are’ sound!

- English -

Discuss the word blurb! What are they, what do they do?

Explain to the children that Not Quite Narwhal doesn’t have a blurb and that our job today is to write one for the back of the story book.

Read blurbs of stories that we have read already or other books and discuss the key features.

Set class on task of writing a blurb paragraph.

Give time to check for BIG3 and spellings.

Here's the link for the story if you want or need to listen again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB6fTm3XGSk

I can describe turns.

Recap on capacity with a container of water, show full, empty, half, quarter, three quarter etc.

Get outside to discuss, demonstrate and do. Try doing quarter, half, three quarter and full turns. You could use the cardinal point on a the compass to help you with this and also the language of clockwise and anticlockwise.

Find something with a similar shape to this and try tracing the shape after you have done the turns.
