26.1.24 Update

This week, the children have moved onto history and science in their Jamaica topic. They looked at the history of Jamaica: from the indigenous people to the colonisation by Spain and later Britain. They also looked at Jamaica's independence. For science, the children are learning how to classify animals using Carl Linnaeus's classifications system. They tried this out with some animals and plants found in Jamaica.
Also this week, the children have been working hard on their hockey skills in PE. They completed a 5-team class tournament which we will expand on next week. We are working towards having a team to take to a competition at Holmfirth High School on the 8th February.
In PSHE, the children came up with some top tips for how to deal with things they see and hear in the news. The children were very mature in their attitudes towards this.
