Week ending Friday 9th July

Posted: Jul 8, 2021 by: Martin Clayton (MClayton) on: Class 6

Another fun-packed and diverse week has flown by in year 6!

We are full steam ahead now with plans for the Leavers' Assembly, which will be held outdoors for the first time - this could well be the start of a new trend!

This week, we have started rehearsing the sketches and writing speeches and on Thursday we did our first walk through for Miss Monday (and each other), so that we all had an opportunity to offer advice to each other and look for ways to fine-tune, before we embark on full rehearsals.

Project America gave the class chance to research and present a mini-project on a country in the Americas, before we began the weekly topic, which was created by last week's winning team: Project New Country. The aim was to invent a new country, a flag, a map, a leader, details on the environment and geography (and what plants and animals have adapted to live here) and to create a history, with details on laws and any social or political issues that are pertinent. Lots of learning and consolidation here and VERY much enjoyed by all!

On Tuesday, the class had their first opportunity to work with Mrs Barker! A full day with some fantastic creations - some new creatures here too!

We have been continuing with Y7 maths problem solving (and, of course, Speed Tables and mental maths), guided reading and the class story - Worst. Holiday. Ever, by Charlie Higson.

Lots done, lots still to do!

Have a lovely weekend everyone,

Mr C, Mrs J, Miss Monday, Miss H and all the team!
