Thursday 2nd April,

Hi everyone, I hope that you have had a good time at Homewood!  It looks like you have been doing some amazing things and having lots of fun.  We have had the sewing machine out here.  Florence has made some bunting for her bedroom.  Teddy has been practising his keepy uppy's!

On to some ideas for activities for today:

STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths

Have a go at designing a kite.  You might want to look at kites found in other cultures or in books you have read - Flat Stanley, Someone Bigger!  Can you draw a picture of your design and then have a go at producing it?  Think carefully about the materials that you will use and the shape that you make it.  Once you have made it comes the really fun bit.  Will it fly?  Try running around your garden with it and see what happens.  Maybe you could record how long it stays up.  You might also think about alterations that you could make.

Art:  Create your own version of an Andy Goldsworthy.  He is a famous artist that creates wonderful pieces of work using natural materials such as stones, leaves, twigs etc.

Take some photos or sketch some pictures of them.

Maths:

I thought you could have a go at some measuring today.  Pick a space.  It could be your bedroom, the garden, the porch, wherever you fancy.  Can you measure it carefully.  Then try to work out the perimeter and then the area of your space.  You could do a large space and a smaller space or even an objects surface.

Again make sure that you have lots of fun in everything that you do.  Goodness me we are missing you all and it is so lovely to see your pictures and work.  You are amazing.

Miss W, Mrs K, Mrs K and Mrs S
