Exploring maps

In geography, we have started looking at different types of maps and how we can use these to create a route to follow. We looked at an atlas to locate the key, which then told us the meanings of the different symbols. We also looked at the points of a compass and made our very own using paper and split pins!
Commemorating Armistice Day

Today, children in Key Stage 1 performed We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn in front of the school, which they have been learning in connection with the centenary of the end of World War 1. We have also been making poppies out of used plastic bottles, with pva glue and paint, to create beautiful symbols of this event. During the afternoon, we attached these to the school gate singing our song again. These have been placed at the front of school for all to admire and remember those who had shown bravery throughout the world.
Partitioning numbers

Today, we used arrow cards to help us understand the value of each number in 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. We found that if we pulled the cards apart after we had made the numbers, they showed us what each number represented. Why not test the children at home to see if you can trick them ....
Computing - Coding

Plant experiment

Today in science, we planted paperwhite narcissus bulbs. Children have predicted how they will grow in four different conditions:
