'Transition Tuesday' 30.6.20

Good morning again class 2!

I am delighted to be able to add another blog for you all today. I was so impressed with your fabulous work last week and all your amazing photos; thank you so much for sending them to me. I hope you spotted them on Mrs Barker's 'Friday Photo Gallery'!

Here are some activities for you to try today! I hope you enjoy them! Please don't feel pressured to do everything if time is tricky and just select those you can manage. Have fun and enjoy!

Yoga;

Why not begin the day with a little gentle yoga?

Reading;

As always, spend some special 1 to 1 reading time with Mum or Dad. Listen to them read a story to you and then it's your turn. Remember to try and read with exciting expression and try and think carefully about what you're reading as I'd like Mum or Dad to quiz you afterwards about your book!!

Maths;

6 questions (remember to check; is it an addition or subtraction?)

  1. 45 + 24 (will you use columns or calculate your 10s and then your ones?)
  2. 37 + 32
  3. 62 + 25
  4. 64 - 22
  5. 74 - 32
  6. 54 - 23

Problem;

If Mrs Barker had 45 books on her book shelf and Miss Kelly gave her 24 more, how many would she now have?

Activity;

Do you like shopping? I definitely do!!

Here's a little shopping task......

Things to do with kids during Lockdown | Parenting Hub

You may need to ask Mum or Dad to help you, but I'd really like you to make your own little grocery shop today! With an adult's help, select items from the cupboard and give them all prices (ranging from 10p to £1 to begin with but then higher prices when you're ready). Have fun preparing your shop. You'll need lots of items to sell, a table, a chair for the shopkeeper, a shopping basket (or alternative!!), carrier bags (recyclable of course!), a pencil and paper for calculations and lots of coins!

Before you begin you may want to remind yourself of the value of each of the coins.

Take turns to be the shopkeeper and customer.

As the customer, select 2 items to begin with (may be more later).

As the shopkeeper, you find your 'till' isn't working so you'll need to add the total cost yourself!! Use your pencil and paper to work it out; will you need to use columns?

Make sure you play the role of the shopkeeper lots and lots so you're doing the adding up!!

English;

I am really looking forwards to you all joining me in class 3 in September. We are going to have great fun!

You may feel excited, you may feel a little worried (I promise you don't need to though) and you may have lots of questions.

Are there some questions you would like to ask my current class? I am sure they would love to answer them.

Please could you write a list of burning questions you would like to ask them and I will pass them onto class 3 so they can reply via your class blog. Make sure you use your best handwriting and punctuation and perhaps even create a colourful border if you like!

D.T.

Mum and Dad must have been very busy over the last few months!! Would you like to help them prepare either lunch or tea? You could help prepare the food, set the table and even make an eye-catching menu. You could even pretend to be the waiter or waitress and serve everyone their meal too.

I really hope you all have a great day and have fun trying the activities above! Do let me know how it goes and please send me some photos too; please use the class 3 email address so they will come directly to me.

Thank you so much everyone!

Take care and have fun!
