World Mental Health Day - Thursday 10th

admin on: Class 6

7th October 2019

It is World Mental Health Day this Thursday and we are going to be raising money for Young Minds, a charity which supports young people with their mental health. It is a key focusing point on the School Governments agenda to promote the health and well-being for children in school. The Minister of Health and Well-being, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Miss Hemingway will be selling yellow ribbon badges for 20p on Wednesday and Thursday break times. We ask the children to then wear them on Thursday to show their support. All proceeds will be donated to Young Minds. Here is a link to the Young Minds website: https://youngminds.org.uk/

Look out for staff wearing yellow on #HelloYellow Thursday!

Art inspired by conflict

admin on: Class 6

4th October 2019

In art, we are looking at pieces of art which have been inspired by conflict. Each week we are going to be looking at different artists, some of which were commissioned to create pieces of artwork while experiencing the front line. We are going to then create our very own artwork inspired by conflict that we have learnt about.

Year 6 Trips

admin on: Class 6

For the sake of good order and so that you know what is coming up this year, I thought I'd let you know the plans for school trips, this year.

Obviously, we are going to Robinwood on Monday 14th October - I hope you are packed!

We usually do a Leavers' Trip in the last week, as a reward and a fun way to celebrate the end of the year (and primary school). This involves laser shooting and going out for lunch afterwards.

We have been offered another opportunity this year, which has made us reassess and change the trip, due to its exciting nature.

So, we plan to go to Wagamama's, in Leeds before the Easter break. They have offered us a complete morning in their restaurant kitchens, looking at the whole process - which is part of the year 6 DT curriculum - and ending by eating in the restaurant. Incredibly, this is completely free! All we have to pay for is transport to, and from Leeds. This will work out at approximately £10

In order to avoid additional costs to you, we have decided to remove the 'going out for lunch' part of the Leavers' Trip and, instead, bring a packed lunch. This also means that we can spend more time Laser Shooting - for the same cost. The cost for this trip will be under £20

I hope that this sounds good to you. Please come to me, or Mrs Johnson, if you have any concerns, but this will be all that we, as a school, will ask of you (cost-wise) this year.

Thanks again for all your support.

Mr C and Mrs J
