Welcome back everyone!  I hope you have had a good rest and enjoyed your holiday time.  Did Sana visit?  Maybe family did too!

We have started a new book in Class 3 this week.  It is very exciting and adventurous!  It is called Nim's Island by Wendy Orr.  We have drawn a map of Nim's Island and we have written a description of the island which includes some wonderful vocabulary, handwriting and punctuation!

We have also been reading Podkin One Ear as a whole class.  There are some wonderful words we have come across, such as armoured, metallic and torrent, so we have added some to our Magpie Books.

In Maths we have been drawing and writing fractions.  I think we have all found it a little tricky at times, but also really good too!  We really enjoyed colouring in the fractions of shapes.

We have been learning about how to keep healthy.  This was in Science and in PSHE.  We learnt about what animals, including humans, need such as: water, air, food and exercise!  We also learnt how to keep health by keeping clean, brushing our teeth, eating the right foods, wearing clean clothes and we also discussed how animals keep healthy.

Our new PE topic is called Duel, Win and Lose. We will learn all about sportsmanship and how to win and how to lose.

We also found out that we will be performing in the Mrs Sunderland Festival in the Town Hall in Huddersfield.  We have some wonderful songs to sing!

Our new DT project will be all about food.  At the end of the half term we will be designing and making our own pizzas to cook and take home.

What a wonderful start to the New Year!

Thank you

Miss Watkins, All of Class 3 and Mrs Oddie
