Week ending 21.4.23

Posted: Apr 21, 2023 by: Zoe Watkins (ZWatkins) on: Class 3

What a busy week we have had after our wonderful Easter holiday!

In Maths this week, we looked at subtraction using exchange methods and the months of the year. Each month is a little different as there are some months with 30 days and some with 31, February has only 28 days!

In Science, we are investigating how light impacts day and night. The sun rises at different times throughout the year and this effects the seasons. It also sets at different times too.

In RE, we have learnt about Eid and how Muslims celebrate this special time of year and that the moon is very important. People fast at this time and so only eat during the hours of darkness.

In Literacy this week, we are starting to learn facts about Blackpool. There is a very large tower there on the sea front, they have illuminations at night and it is the only seaside in England that has three piers.

In PE, we had our PE coach and we started our new unit Boxercise! We got to wear boxing gloves and pads. We learnt two new moves - jab and cross and practised these with our partner. It was really good fun! We had to make sure we were standing correctly with our feet wide apart and at an angle with one foot forwards.

Our favourite dinner this week was the salmon pasta bake. This is one of our favourites on a Friday!

We had a fun time listening to one of our children playing the guitar and then we all got to play in our Recorder orchestra!  We are feeling very musical!
