Week ending 24.3.23

Posted: Mar 24, 2023 by: Zoe Watkins (ZWatkins) on: Class 3

Hi guys,

This week, we learnt about tally charts.  We asked people in Class 3 what their favourite colour or sport was.  We thought about how we could then turn our tally charts into graphs.  We created bar graphs using our gathered information.  We made a graph about animals.  We then selected our own topic, went around the classroom asking each other what they thought and then turned the information into a graph.

In English, we have created a double page spread about the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings.  We put where the Vikings came from, and where and when they invaded.  Some of the facts we included were - Alfred the Great helped to make peace with the Vikings and introduced Danelaw, we added some facts about life at the time, that there were 7 kingdoms and that the houses were made from wattle and daub (and sometimes dung!).  This links beautifully with our History work.

In Science, we learnt about how the seed germinates in the soil, grows, pollination, fertilisation and seed dispersal.  We learnt words like ovule and ovary inside the flower.  This process then begins all over again.

Sadly we are saying goodbye to Mrs Lindley.  She has been here for 19 years and 1 month.  A very impressive length of time.  We will all miss her very much.  She will always have a very special place in our hearts.  Enjoy your new adventures.

From all of Class 3 Superstars (including Miss Watkins)
