Week ending 17.3.23

Posted: Mar 17, 2023 by: Zoe Watkins (ZWatkins) on: Class 3

What a busy week we have had!  It began with Science Week.  Wow!  We all had a go at different and fun investigations.  We learnt about colours, magical water, built Viking Longboats and built bridges!  The week ended with Red Nose Day on Friday 17th March. We came to school wearing red noses (we looked very funny)! We spent the day doing lots of activities that related to Red Nose Day and learning about the money they raise and where it goes.

In Maths this week, we looked at weight and mass. We used scales to measure the objects and to find out how much they weighed in kilograms and grams. For example a walkie talkie, hole punch, dictionary and other classroom objects. In IT we learnt how to use the computer to produce a range of bar graphs. This information came from the measurements that we recorded from our Maths lessons.

In Science, we looked at some new plants and drew these and then labelled them. We also wrote about the characteristics of plants and what they do to help us in our environment. They help us to stay healthy and help animals and insects too.

In RE we have learnt about Moses. He looked after the people, animal and plants. He was a very kind man who liked to help people.

In Literacy this week, we are starting to learn about past tense and nouns. We were turning sentences into the past tense. “I have been there before. I have seen a circus before.”  We also wrote a job description for a Viking.  I wonder if Erik has managed to get any new Vikings for his ship?

In PE we had our PE coach and we continued our gymnastics sessions looking at jumps and landings and balancing. In cricket we learnt how to throw, catch and using a bat to hit the ball.

Our favourite dinner this week was the pasta with tomato and basil sauce.  This is one of our favourites on a Wednesday!
