Week ending Friday 24th June 2022

We have finished our Queen Elizabeth timelines this week and used them to make a display in the classroom. They look great and are full of interesting information about the Queen's life.

In Maths, we have been finding the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes, sometimes having to find the missing values first.

We have continued working on The Highwayman poem; this week, writing diary entries as one of the characters. We are working hard to achieve our writing targets.

In Science, we have continued to find out about British scientists. Ada Lovelace and Alan Turing were today's focus - amazing mathematicians and inventors of their time. We made some of our own code-makers before creating and solving our own secret codes.

As the sun was shining, we made the most of it and played an epic game of cricket. I was a little disappointed to be caught out on my second bat... but what a catch!  We also used the javelins to practise our throwing skills.

In Art, we looked at Holbein's work and recreated one of his pieces of Henry VIII, using pencil and shading. There are certainly some talented artists in Class 5!

We also made time for some 'show and tell's this week. We have seen medals, cheer-leading pictures, gemstones and a new baby!

Well done Class 5!
