Week ending Friday 8th April 2022

Posted: Apr 8, 2022 by: Sarah Kendal (SKendal) on: Class 5

Here we are at the end of another term!

We have had a very busy week in Class 5. We have completed lots of assessments but we have not let them stop us having fun too!

Our week started with a visit from the Holmfirth River Explorers. They brought with them lots of outdoor activities, including small water creatures to identify and study. In groups, we completed a wildlife treasure hunt and discussed what healthy and unhealthy rivers look like.

Mrs Johnson has worked incredibly had to make sure every child has made and sampled a Maya inspired tortilla wrap with salsa.

In PE, we worked in teams to play a game from Ancient Maya called Pok-ta-pok. The aim of the game was to pass the ball between team members without using hands or feet. Very interesting to watch!

Our Science lesson was fun. We thought about how our bodies change as we move to old age and took part in various investigations: wearing distorted goggles to read messages, picking up beads wearing gardening gloves, wearing headphones to listen to whispers and wrapping our joints in bandages to restrict movement.

We were also lucky enough to have a visit from Sophie's Mum who told us all about the importance of labelling products correctly and what information should be included. A huge thank you for giving up your time to speak with us Mrs Thompson.

This morning, we got crafty and made our very own Mayan God's eyes whilst listening to some traditional Mexican music.

Have a look at our week in photos below:

I hope you all have a happy and relaxing Easter break. See you all in two weeks time!
