Week ending 1st April 2022

Posted: Apr 2, 2022 by: Sarah Kendal (SKendal) on: Class 5

April already... and snowing!

This week in English, we have been revising lots of year 5 grammar. Confidence in adverbials and relative clauses is improving and we are using lots of them in our own writing.

In Maths, we have been converting units of measurement. Our knowledge of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 has come in handy when doing so.

We are continuing to think about how we change as we move from birth to old age in Science. This week we have discussed the changes our bodies go through during puberty. We then wrote letters to an imaginary Agony Aunt, asking questions and explaining our worries.

Next week, we will be cooking and making some Maya-inspired tortillas and salsa. In DT we have planned our healthy wraps and written ingredient lists.

Some children presented their RE puppet shows this week and we moved on to talk about how important confession is to Catholic people, and how it is carried out.

In History, we have been finding out why the cacao bean was so important in Ancient Maya. We made a start on a chocolate-based project; I can't wait to see the finished results!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

The Year 5 team xx
